Outstanding hotel, possibly one of the best I’ve stayed at.
The room was very large and had excellent layout. Very zen decor throughout, feeling of calm and comfort. Excellent service. Very nice public bath that I used several times to soak tired muscles after long days sight-seeing. Thoughtful touches throughout.
Wow, what a place to stay, I didn’t want to leave.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Park Royal Iconic Hotel in Kyoto. Conveniently located within walking distance of the shopping district but also close to bus and train options. The room was spacious and laid out well. Access to the Public Bath and Lounge was an added bonus. The reception staff were exceptional- very friendly, welcoming, and helpful.
Perfect location in central Kyoto. Train station and bus stop is across the street. Walking distance to pontocho alley and tons of restaurants and shops. Staff was super nice and friendly. Room was spacious, great bed, shower and view.
We have a very unfortunate and unpleasant experience with staff from the front desk/reception area. The night prior we had trouble communicating with front desk and it took longer than normal to set up luggage delivery to our next destination (Osaka). The next day we arrived 1 hr prior to our Shinkansen departure to the hotel to pick up our belongings and asked front desk to request a taxi since it was pouring rain outside and we had multiple bags. The receptionist did not request a taxi when asked and made us sit and wait for nearly 20 minutes to tell us she was busy and it was a holiday and she had not yet requested the taxi. She did not inform us of anything until we got up and asked. She then told us we could take the subway which we were trying to avoid given the amount of bags we had and the rain situation. Suffice it to say we did not make it to the train station on time despite all the hoops we went to get there (including having to hail our own taxi). We missed our Shinkansen and the rest were sold out. We had to take a taxi to Osaka in order to not miss a booked event that was already paid for and we had to pay 120 dollars for the taxi there. We did not expect to have such poor service and no accountability at all. We will not be staying here or can recommend this hotel because the front desk are not properly trained and can barely communicate with tourists.
The best hotel I have stayed in. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. The bathroom layout was perfect. Large window with great views. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Luggage forwarding service was extremely easy and reasonably priced. The guest lounge was relaxing with good drink options.
