Recently restored to maintain its authentic Croatian character, this traditional stone country house is an antique treasure trove in Croatia's Istrian peninsula. Dating back to 1907, Villa Stargazer has its feet planted in tradition and is a beautiful example of the original Istrian architecture. Just look at the rustic stone exteriors and red terracotta roofs, with interiors that transport you back in time. The stone-brick walls and wooden panelled ceilings are coated in history, with the living space oozing a delightful charm. An old-style brick fireplace is a picturesque addition to the living room, overlooked by two antique striped sofas, old-fashioned decor, and a wooden bookshelf. The kitchen is as cosy as it can get, keeping with the country-chic design with old wooden cabinetry and retro-style appliances. Follow the wooden staircase to the two spacious double bedrooms featuring oak beds, exposed beams, and incredible views over the landscape. The top floor has a loft for some added privacy, with a snug twin bedroom.

The gardens are glorious, with an expansive lawn fringed with aromatic trees, multi-coloured flower beds, and cypress groves. With such a secluded location, you can soak up the panoramas in total tranquillity on the stone patio. Stretch out under the hot Croatian sun on a plush lounger, which borders the sparkling ten-metre swimming pool. The loggia features gorgeous exposed rock and high beamed ceilings, a cosy reprieve from the heat with a comfy outdoor sofa set. It also houses a period double barbecue grill, ideal for grilling up any fresh produce or local veggies. The idyllic alfresco dining table sits at the front of the villa, perfect for intimate dinners or family picnics, all whilst gazing out over the lush Mediterranean gardens.

Fringed on the border of Ucka Nature Park, the area packs a punch when it comes to its natural beauty. Located at the bottom of mount Ucka on the outskirts of the medieval town Kozljak, the setting is serene and secluded. The town itself is as charming as it gets, filled with historic buildings and ancient monuments, neighbouring small restaurants and quaint cafes. The perfect place for active explorers, with scenic bike trails and hiking spots woven between the mountainous landscape. Just a short drive away are the crystal waters of the beautiful eastern coastline of Istria, with numerous sandy beaches and rocky coves. Head to the charming hilltop town of Labin for all of your amenities, or just simply stroll through the history-rich streets. Further afield is the larger beach resort of Rabac, where a white-pebbled beach, water sports and exceptional waterfront restaurants await.
