This used to be my favorite hotel in Kingston ( 10th stay) but not anymore. The hotel is slowly becoming like any other hotel in Kingston, average. Some of the perks that used to distinguished this hotel have been eliminated. For example, they no longer offer rum punch as a welcome drink, no free bottled water in the rooms (except on the first day) no water in the gym. No microwave to warm your food. The hotel was extremely unstaffed the entire 7 days I was there. They constantly ran out of food at breakfast. Some days the food looked and tasted liked it was thrown together. No longer offer free mimosas at breakfast and they no longer bring coffee or tea to the table, unless you specifically ask. I was extremely disappointed with the overall service. One night we ordered hamburgers and French fries (pool bar 2nd floor). We waited over 2 1/2 hours for our food because they ran out of hamburger meat. It was awful. And then they wanted to charge extra for mayo and mustard. The biggest pain was not having a microwave in the room. You have to take the food to the restaurant and they warm it for you, which takes about 15 to 20 minutes for some reason. That said, Mr. Owen who works in the restaurant (breakfast) always provided exceptional service. His work ethic and professionalism far exceeds his colleagues. Joel Thompson was our driver and his services were excellent and impeccable as always. The hotel upgraded their TVs and now offer Netflix and YouTube.

I always stay at this hotel but I have to say I noticed a big change this time. The hotel is cutting corners and this affects staff morale and customer satisfaction. They stopped doing the rum punch welcome drink. The breakfast has been cut. They had no plantains for breakfast. other things have been scaled back. I heard it was due to cost. I don't want egg for breakfast everyday. The management need to look at this.

My room was not ready until 430pm although check in was 3pm. At breakfast they were slow with replacing empty dishes/coffee. Other than that its within walking distance of New Kingston.
