Vintage wood paneled travel trailer on Kernville Ranch with horses and hot tub

Journey back in time as you step into this beautifully preserved 1956 Spartan travel home, situated on the scenic 15-acre Kernville Ranch, just a brief walk from Kernville. After adventures exploring the Kern River Valley, take a moment to rejuvenate in the all natural cedar hot tub. Delight in watching the playful horses frolic in the lush meadows or engage in some old-fashioned fun catching frogs. This unique retreat offers a timeless escape from the modern world.

This charming original 1956 model from Spartan Aircraft Company, is known for its sleek design and spacious interior, making it a desirable vintage travel trailer trailer. It has cozy ambiance with warm, honey-colored wood paneling throughout.

Arrive and step up to an expansive DECK with Moroccan tile table for outside dining, gas griddle and comfortable chairs to enjoy the sunset or count the stars. Enjoy the mirrored surface of the polished restored aluminum trailer with two doors.

The door on the right is to the living room and KITCHENETTE, perfect for reheating leftovers or preparing a quick sandwich (please note there's no gas stove). This intimate space features a small table, a twin bed that doubles as a sofa, and a comfy beanbag chair, ideal for immersing yourself in a good book.

The space is compact and there are windows everywhere looking out at views to pink mountains and the lush lawns. Past the original pink fridge and kitchen sink, you'll find a narrow paneled hallway. A pocket door leads to a compact BATHROOM equipped with a shower and the coziest of bathtubs.

The BEDROOM has a comfortable queen bed and a petite closet. Windows on all sides gaze out at the ranch, enveloped in the lush shade of towering trees, with views of the horse pastures and Kernville's own iconic Powers Peak. A door from the bedroom leads back outside to the large wood deck.

With robust air conditioning and authentic vintage details, this is the perfect spot to soak up the evening air after a day of hiking or rafting. The charming town of Kernville is just a short walk away. It's a picturesque setting for a relaxing getaway.

You have complete and private access to all interior areas photographed.

You are welcome to explore the fenced grounds of Kernville Ranch. Take a soothing dip in our all-natural cedar hot tub, say hi to our horses or experience the thrill of the zip line.

The ranch spans about 15 acres, featuring three available listings. This is the Shiny Spartan listing. Mountain View is the original house, one of the oldest homesteads in the Valley, the cabin was originally built in the 1890’s. Meadowlands Cottage is the third listing, a one bedroom wing attached to main house.

We encourage guests to connect with fellow vacationers. I hope you get a chance to meet Reid, a retired sheriff, during your stay. He comes daily to tend the horses and mules used with One Spade Youth Packers, a charity that fosters a sense of community in the area by working with young people and teaching them backcountry and mule skills.. For larger groups or an exclusive experience, consider renting the entire ranch.

While exploring our barns and hay loft, please exercise caution and common sense. The ranch is full of real tractors and farm equipment essential for ranch operations. If you are unsure, please don't. If you see Reid and ask him:-) He is wise and helpful.

My husband and I hold a deep affection for this ranch, and we are thrilled to share its enchantment with others. Our approach is a delicate one – we renovate the house and its surroundings to offer families a comfortable and enjoyable experience while safeguarding the historical charm of the ranch, where wildlife thrives.

The magic of our property may reveal itself in unexpected ways. Perhaps a herd of deer will step out of the water meadows at sunset. Or your children may frolic through the grass, their hands cradling a newfound frog from the woodpile. Nature and wildlife will undoubtedly make their presence known during your stay.

Here at our ranch, we are home to horses and mules, and a gentle seasonal river (not currently flowing) on our land and over 100 large trees provide plenty of shade.

Separated by the seasonal babbling brook that meanders through the center of the property(not currently flowing), the remainder of the ranch opens into meadows where horses and mules roam freely. Ducks, herons, and ospreys grace our skies, a picturesque scene against the backdrop of pink-hued mountains. It truly is a place of remarkable beauty.

Please note that the outdoor spaces are shared among guests staying in the two other listings. Our dedicated groundskeeper, Reid, visits twice daily to care for the horses.

Please note that there is no stove inside the Spartan. There is a propane griddle outside and a kitchenette inside.

Please note that I do not reside on-site and will not be physically present during your stay. Nevertheless, I am a conscientious and engaged host.

I can’t guarantee that something won’t go wrong with your stay, its a big historic property and things happen, but I do my very best to make sure that you have a wonderful time in my care. I know how precious leisure time with your loved ones is and I can promise to to my very best to make sure you love it here.

This property was perfect for my wife and I, as we like nature, hiking and small communities. The Whiskey Flats Days Festival was fun. As hikers we enjoyed the walk to the village and all it had to offer. The 1956 Spartan was as we expected and fun to experience. All in all we really enjoyed our stay.
