Country Club Plaza:
HISTORY: Designed as the nation’s first suburban shopping district for the automobile, the Country Club Plaza was the vision of developer J.C. Nichols. Seeking to create a real estate development that captured the allure of Spanish marketplaces, Nichols purchased several small lots of land in a swampy and undeveloped area in 1907 and opened the Plaza’s first buildings in 1922. Originally nicknamed “Nichols’ Folly,” the Country Club Plaza’s Moorish architecture now features more than $1 million in artwork, comprised of the district’s fountains, murals and more than 30 statues.

WHERE TO GET LUNCH: With 30 restaurants and 17 outdoor dining venues, the Country Club Plaza offers a diverse dining landscape to busy shoppers. From Kansas City favorites like Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue and Gram & Dun to emerging places like Parkway Social Kitchen, Rye and Cooper's Hawk, there is something to suit every appetite and budget.

VISITOR INFORMATION: Plaza Customer Service (at 4750 Broadway) offers extensive Kansas City and Plaza visitor information, luxurious public restrooms, public lounge and complimentary coffee and tea.

WHAT’S NEARBY: The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art are just minutes away. The National Museum of Toys & Miniatures is just to the south on the University of Missouri-Kansas City campus.

This is a shared building with a controlled access entry to the building and the condo itself. Host will not be on site the day of check in however all codes are sent to the guest the day of arrival. Host is always a text a phone call away!

Great location, comfortable apartment
In KC on a book tour, I wanted a safe spot centrally located, since I had appointments in all directions. This place was perfect. I was one block from the nearest diner, a few more blocks from coffee, 1/2 mile to Whole Foods. Parking was no problem. Bonus: The Nelson art museum's grounds are across the street. Loose Park is within walking distance. The unit itself was very comfortable, clean, and well equipped. The elevator wasn't working, but that information was communicated both before and after booking, and the walk up to the fourth floor was good exercise. The kitchen was well stocked, including four types of coffeemaker! The bed was comfortable, as was the sofa. Sheets and towels very nice. Livingroom was also comfortable for lounging and working. The unit has air conditioners, but I was comfortable sleeping with the windows open. Inside, the building is very quiet - I never heard any noise from the other units. Street traffic can be a bit noisy at night with windows open.

Beautiful Condo
The condo is beautiful, well decorated, well supplied. The listing does say the elevator is broken but it should also be noted that the stairs are precarious. They are old and have outdated handrails that are lower than normal. It is very difficult to maneuver up them with luggage. The listing states there is plenty of parking in the streets but our experience is this is not true. I ended up having to park in a no parking zone, there was nothing within 3 blocks of the building. This condo is best for someone who did not bring their own car.

KC experience
Photos of property were highly edited. Access was questionable at best. Stairs are fine. But limit your adventures coming and going 52 steps altogether. Bathroom needs some attention. No exhaust fan. And missing caulk around tub somewhat dingy? I guess that is the experience I paid for. I would not recommend

Super cute apartment, perfect for a couple. Right across the street from the Nelson. Stairs weren’t an issue. Kinda narrow but otherwise totally fine. Great touch having coffee for us. Thank you!

Actual unit is good
The actual unit is very clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and linens and towels were good. The street parking and walking up the awkward stairs wasn’t the best, I would have expected better for the price we paid.

Great space!
We had a great time at The Nelson condo. It was a good location to launch from as we revisited our favorite Kansas City spots. And the space is cute and functional. Despite some difficulty with road construction for the streetcar expansion, and the inconvenient outage of the elevator, we were happy with our pick for staying in KC for a long weekend. And lastly, there were a few minor issues upon arrival, but the property manager had a maintenance person there to address the issues within hours of being informed by us. We definitely appreciated that responsiveness!

The Nelson
The location was amazing. We were in walking distance to so many shops, restaurants, and museums. Even the places in which we had to drive were not far. Our only concern was that we did not get check in instructions until we reached out for them. Thanks so much!

Beautiful apartment in a fantastic location
If you're looking for the perfect stay in Kansas City, then look no further - this place has it all. The location is great - there are some lovely coffee shops, bars and restaurants a short walk away. You're also right next to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art which is not only amazing (and free) to go into, but also has stunning gardens around it. The apartment itself is great - has all the amenities you need. Comfy couch. Good TV in the living room and bedroom etc. Comms with the host was perfect. Only issue is the elevator was out, but we knew that ahead of booking and while it's on the 4th floor it takes seconds to walk it. Loved Kansas City. Loved this VRBO. Will definitely be back again!

Great location great apartment
Aside from the elevator problem positive. Maybe my checkin problem but the apartment just what was needed in comfort ad facilities Please all notice the wonderful Museum nearby. That in combination with nearness to other Kansas City jazz and food very nice indeed The warnings about parking challenges on weekends appreciated but unnecessary and the circular drive allowed drop off luggage in any case. Recommend .

Great Stay
Kristen was so easy to communicate with. She was really fast to respond. The elevator was out in the building, but Kristen let me know ahead of time and offered to refund my stay if it was a problem for us. The condo was exactly as advertised. The location was perfect for us. We would definitely stay again!

Near the Plaza
We needed to be near the plaza for food three times, for long morning walks on Bush Creek and for the Nelson Atkins. We did not have time for Shakespeare in the Park but the Tempest was playing every evening nearby. The apartment on floor four was very enjoyable and super well stocked. Whole Foods grocery is nearby. Parking on the street no problem even while Tempest was on.

Great spot
My husband and I were in town visiting friends and we always love being close to the plaza’s shops and restaurants. This condo was perfect for our needs and short stay. Even though my husband and I are used to a king bed, the queen bed was extremely comfortable. We never had an issue finding a parking spot. We would definitely stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay. It is close to the art museum and lots of restaurants. On street parking was no problem during our visit. The traffic noise did bother me the first night, but I got used to it. Overall a nice place to spend the weekend.

Great Location - Inaccurate Listing
Just a few blocks from the plaza this spot if great for a weekend getaway! While it was thoughtfully decorated and well appointed the reason we did not give 5 stars were due to cleanliness (debris on the couch when we arrived, broken bedside lamp with broken edges above the light bulb exposed right next to the bed) and the $35 fee to register on Superhog (if you are not already registered on the Superhog app) for ID verification not being included in the property listing, but being required by the property management firm. We learned about this additional fee 24 hours prior to check-in, so we had pretty limited options to find another booking for the same weekend.
