Lovely, secluded cabin
We loved our stay at the cabin! It was as depicted in the listing. If you are looking for a cozy, rustic vibe, this is your place! It's super close to town, but just secluded enough to appreciate being in the mountains among the tall trees. It's also a 'designated dark sky' area (which I had never heard of before) so it's REALLY dark at night, but you can really see all the stars in the skies, which is very cool! The listing said that there were lots of stairs, and that was true. I have a disability and use a walker and/or cane and we managed it OK, but if you don't have great mobility, pay attention to the listing. Once inside there is no problem at all.Our host, John, gave us all the info we needed prior to getting there, and he was easily accessible via email if we had any questions. We had a wonderful time, in a beautiful, peaceful setting that was so relaxing for our 30th anniversary and Christmas. We've been to Julian quite a few times before, but never during the holidays. It was very busy and lots of people, but since we had been before, we weren't too concerned about seeing the town as much as having a relaxing vacation. We visited Ca Mountain Bakery for a (huge) sandwich and equally huge breakfast croissant which was yummy! Heroes for a pizza. And Moms Pies and Dudleys Bakery for pies and bread to bring home. There is also a produce stand on I78 by the SD Animal Safari that we have to stop at every time.So 8 days in the mountains was a great re-charge!
