Luxurious Chateau with Private Pool, Tennis and Par 3 Golf

Chateau Jautrudon has all that is needed for a family holiday in rural France. Set in a 40 hectare estate, the chateau offers a peaceful and secluded location with several kilometers of walkways through our forest, a private fenced pool, tennis court and 3 hole par 3 golf course.

The interiors provide a high level of luxury with antique furnishings together with fully modernised and equipped kitchen and bathrooms. The chateau was fully renovated and modernised when completed in 2007 and lots of enhancements have been performed on an ongoing basis with the introduction of a 3 hole par 3 golf course in the park (clubs provided) and an exercise trail in the forest.

The chateau provides all you will need for a active or relaxing vacation. Just select a book and sit by the fire in winter or the pool in summer, play croquet on the lawn with an early evening cocktail, play tennis and golf, walk through the forest and try to spot the deer and wild boar or cycle to the village to pick up fresh croissant, pain au chocolate and fresh baked bread.

The chateau itself sits in the midst of a network of walking tracks that can lead you to the ancient Priory de Villesalem and many of the local hamlets and villages.

The region is split by 3 major rivers (the Vienne, Gartempe and Creuse) which provide many opportunities for water activities and picnic locations. Just to the north of the chateau is the Parc National de la Brenne which contains hundreds of small ponds and lakes, several of which have beaches, restaurants and water activities.

Close by are the towns of Montmorrillon and Chauvigny which are well worth visiting for their medieval architecture and also their thriving markets and shops. St Savin is a UNESCO world heritage site having a large medieval monastry which can be visited to view the interiors and frescos, as wel as to have a picnic by the river.

Further afield there are numerous morning markets in the surrounding towns and villages where you can buy local produce, clothes and even hens and rabbits. One of the largest markets in France is held at Les Herrolles once a month.

The region also boasts the Futuroscope theme park close to Poitiers which is a great experience for all the family with IMAX theatre presentations, informative and fun features and exhibits and fireworks and fountain displays to end the day.

other days out include the Vallee de Signes where you walk through a woodland with monkeys in the trees and on the ground, Iles aux Serpents and Crocodile Planet.

After a hard day relaxing around the estate, playing sport or siteseeing in the local area the chateau provides everything you will need for enjoyable evenings with family or friends. The huge modern kitchen has everything you will need to prepare a special meal to be eaten in the formal dining room or for an outdoor meal on a long summers evening on the balcony.

The chateau room configuration has been adapted with families in mind. There are 5 bedrooms on each of the upper 2 floors. Each floor has 2 wings with 2 bedrooms and a shared bathroom in each wing. There is a central bedroom on each floor with it's own en suite bathroom. All bedrooms have queen or king sized beds except for 2 twin rooms (one on each floor)
The ground floor has a TV room, hallway, dining room and fully modernised kitchen and the basement has a table tennis table and an informal kitchen that links to the outside terrace and pool.

Multi generation family holiday.
Excellent choice for a large family holiday. Plenty of activities to keep everyone occupied and happy. Plus lots of space with in the property and grounds . Good time had by all. A bit disappointing that you had to pay for the use of bikes at the property.

Keep coming back for more
Our third year back at Chateau Jautrudon and the week seemed to fly by again. So much to do on site (tennis, swimming, golf, walks in the woods, games inside) and a few trips out (canoeing in Le Blanc, VeloRail at Chauvigny). Nice to see a few improvements in the kitchen plus the addition of a swing and basketball hoop.

Fabulous château with everything you could possibly want or need.
The château is beautifully proportioned and extremely comfortable for 17 people aged from 5-77! The facilities are extensive and Nicolas, who lives next door is friendly and helpful likewise the charming Radegon who came in to clean 3 times. Can not recommend highly enough for a large group of mixed ages. It was a perfect holiday and the weather was ideal. Huge thanks to the owners .

Spacious chateau in a lovely setting.
The only thing which was not perfect was that the iron bedsteads were very creaky and not very comfortable. Everything else was great - spacious, good pool, tennis court and short, rough golf course!

Chateau La Jautrudon is outstanding
Our 2020 visit was delayed by Covid. During the intervening years Steve was most helpful and understanding. The chateau is indeed a marvel. Perhaps a fading elegance, but that suits our family perfectly. It is spaciously laid out even at full capacity, and all the extensive equipment caters for every sybaritic foible. The bathrooms are modern and ideal, and the kitchens provide ample facilities for the full household. Nicolas and Agnes came every day to service the pool and to clean and tidy the house, and the former was available 24/7 via his mobile. The gardener came regularly to tend the rose garden, which looks lovely, despite the hosepipe ban. She gave us tomatoes from the kitchen garden. The extensive grounds were a delight, and the boys loved the fitness stands on the circuit, and enjoyed competing with each other. We even picked enough blackberries for a delicious blackberry and apple pie. One of the dishwashers broke down, but Nicolas did his best to help. We did find a Michelin recommended caterer: Alban Galpin of Lucullus, Montmorillon, who delivered a celebratory feast to our specification. It turned out that Agnes would have been able to do this too, and she has a band of helpers to serve it up. The estate is children friendly - ours were 2 - 15 years old, so there is no need to even leave the site. Our thanks to Steve and Chateau La Jautrudon for a wonderful and memorable holiday.

Fabulous 20 person property in Journet
An amazing all round experience. Awesome property and host - perfect for our group of 20 (10 adults & 10 kids). Facilities were second to none (heated swimming pool, tennis courts, par 3 golf, table tennis, bikes, beautiful grounds with lovely walking trails, etc). Our only regret was that we had to leave at the end of the week, but we will definitely come back here again. Thank you!

Relaxing family vacation
The chateau is in a very quiet area, surrounded by woods and close to nice little villages. Great for family trips! Very good supermarket 15 minutes away. The tennis court and rustic golf area gave a special touch to the vacations . Bicycles available for rent in the chateau are in perfect shape and roads around are perfect for riding . The house is in perfect shape , and provides golf clubs, tennis racquets, cricket, petanque , ping pong table, and a very nice barbecue . Pool is perfect for summer vacations . Perfect for big families trip , there is something to do for everyone. And the great disposition and kindness of Monsieur Nicolas , who is around to help with any issue , makes you feel at home. We will definitely go back next year.

Family celebration May 2019
Beautiful and extremely well equipped venue. We all had a very happy time with something for everyone ( ages 6 - 80 years ) Our only criticism is the poor directions in finding the venue ,one car ending in a field and others arriving in the dark having difficulties. Clear signs on the more major roads and bigger brighter signs on the smaller lanes would be helpful. However it was a joyous sight to drive up the sweeping drive to the property. Highly Recommend this property.

Grand Chateau, with a relaxed, homely feel
The chateau and grounds are beautiful. So spacious and well equipped. With the pool, tennis court, golf course, play station and woodland there was something to entertain all of our party, whose ages ranged from 13 to 80. The kitchen had everything we needed and what a great idea to have the wine cellar, with it's honesty pot. Nicolas, the caretaker, was a great too. Really helpful, good humoured and responsive to any queries we had. We were lucky to have amazing weather, and those night skies! I don’t think I have ever seen the stars shine so brightly. Thank you for a fabulous stay.

An Absolute Gem
We were a group of 13 adults looking for a home away from home in the French countryside, and Chateau Jautrudon absolutely blew us away. When we arrived, the sweet and welcoming caretaker gave us a quick tour and our entire group agreed that the house and the grounds were even better than the pictures are able to show. Excellent updated facilities, plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, and privacy. There was room for all of us to eat a family-style meal to remember on the patio, and we made plenty use of the pool, tennis courts, BBQ, and stocked wine cellar. Renting bikes from the groundskeeper allowed us to explore the huge grounds, including the beautiful woods surrounding the property, and allowed us to get to the local town easily, but renting cars is recommended as you'll be far from public transit. All in all, it was the perfect place to have a relaxing vacation with plenty of fun diversions. Montmorillon—20 minutes away—saved us when we arrived on a Sunday evening by having delicious take out pizza available when everything else was closed. We returned to that beautiful town for a wonderful birthday dinner later in the week at one of the restaurants along the river. La Trimouille, the nearest village, kept us well supplied with delicious breads, pastries, cheeses, and merguez. We were hoping to take in a movie at the local cinema, but ended up being too busy enjoying each others' company at the chateau. A few of us were climbers and explored the nearby crags of La Guignoterie and La Dube, which provided a wonderful bonus—we weren't expecting excellent climbing in this area of France! For those of us who needed it, there was WiFi, but it really only reached as far as the dining hall on the ground floor, and was slow. Definitely not a huge negative since we were there to relax, but just be aware should you be needing to access the internet for work or for looking up day trip logistics. Bringing a local SIM or setting up an international tethering data plan can circumvent this issue. If your French isn't too good, definitely arrange things with the owner before your arrival, as the groundskeeper is lovely but his English and your French will be on equal footing. We're already planning our return, as Jautrudon provided an absolute dream vacation for many of us.

Fantastic well equipped chateau
This is the 12th year we have stayed in a chateau with friends in France and without a doubt it was agreed that this was the best one yet. Full marks for all facilities including the 6 golf holes even though the greens were a bit rough.

Amazing Chateau and wonderful holiday
We had a wonderful week at Chateau Jautrudon as 12 of us gathered for a friends and family holiday. The property grounds are extensive and we took advantage of this walking through the woodlands, using the tennis court and swimming pool as well as attempting to improve our golf! The house was immaculate, beautifully furnished and extremely well equipped and was everything we had hoped for. The caretaker, Nicolas, was there to greet us when we arrived and was exceptionally friendly and responded quickly when we needed any help with anything. Prior to travelling to the Chateau we sent a number of emails with lots of questions to the owner Steve who was extremely helpful giving us lots of ideas of things to do which was really appreciated. Most days were spent walking, touring or around the pool and grounds and most evenings were spent on the balcony enjoying BBQ meals and the odd glass of wine or beer! The nearest village, La Trimouille, was only a 2 mile walk away through some lovely country lanes. One day that really stood out was when we went to Oradour-sur-Glane where a whole village was massacred in WWII which was extremely moving as the village has been left as it was and there is an exhibition paying tribute to the people of the town. We also went to a number of other beautiful towns and we’re amazed at how quiet the roads were – unlike what we have to put in with in the West Midlands! Overall we had a great time and are already contemplating another holiday in the next year or so!

Beautiful place for sport-minded families
We celebrated our 80-year birthdays together with our children and grandchildren (age 5 - 23) who came from all over the world. The Chateau and its surroundings are beautiful. Facilities are great: large swimmingpool, nice tenniscourt, basketball, golf, many good bikes and much more. Par-3 golfcourse (5 holes) is not for experienced players but is very good practice area for starting golfers. Communication with owner Steve was very good (quick responses) in spite of the childish and arrogant Abritel-procedures. Local caretaker Nicolas was very helpful in answering ad-hoc questions. Conclusion: if we both are lucky to become 90 we definitely go to Jaudutron again. We had a great week !!!
