Beautiful villa in a mountain village near the Slovenian coast
We were really captivated by the pictures on the listing when we first saw it, and had no hesitation in booking it. I think we had the impression that the villa was quite isolated, and while it is true that the village it is in (Mala Seva) is quite remote, up narrow winding roads just 10 minutes from busy places like Portoroz and Izola, the house is in the middle of a group of houses, so much so that we could hear the children playing in the next door house’s pool, and we were worried we might be disturbing plenty of neighbours if we were too loud when splashing about it the pool.
That aside, it is a nice villa, in two separate apartments, two bedrooms in the downstairs one and one upstairs, which also have a very large living room, with connected TV. The air conditioning worked very well downstairs, much less well upstairs. The kitchen areas for preparing food are small, but since we ate outside the whole time, the cramped nature of the kitchen area was not a huge issue.
The pool was lovely. Milan, our contact for collecting the keys, was always available by phone and SMS for queries, and was very helpful, and when a terrific thunder storm put the electricity out for four hours, he had ascertained that the storm had brought down cables, and had let us know the problem. He also apologised for the lack of a hammock as promised, as the previous tenants had been over-rowdy and destroyed the actual hammock, leaving the frame.
The villa is 10 minutes drive from Portoroz and 15 minutes from the beautiful town of Piran, but for most of the time it was enough just to laze by the pool and look out across the Gulf of Piran towards Croatia and the Adriatic.
