A whole lot of steep wooden stairs to get to the rooms; no where to check-in, it's all electronic with texts. Little glitch when entering room - it was dirty, unmade bed, towels on floor, beer cans on dresser. It looked like someone was still there at 3:30 pm. No receptionist to ask, restaurant doesn't handle Lodge. The "text" person sent us a new room number & that was pretty clean. It needed a vacuum ...screws, dirt clods on the floor but the bathroom was very clean. The room was big, the bed was very hard and overall I don't think we would stay there again.
Delightfully quirky old hotel. Restaurant menu special was excellent, bed comfortable, great shower. A little funky around the edges but clean and pack full of character.
We had no warm.or hot water for the 3 nights qe stayed and one night the fire alarm went off for a couple hours randomly one night from 1 am to 3am. But clean and away from a big town.
Good enough. The 33 stairs were daunting for-my condition but I managed. Disappointed that the restaurant was not open for dinner. Really nice bartender, though.
The food at breakfast was very good. They even make their own salsa.
I thought the wainscoting in the hall, the rich, wood doors and bathroom furniture were particularly beautiful. No real view but at least the window opened. Big roomy room was nice. It was ultra clean.
Very quiet and comfortable. The bed was nicely firm although the pillows were very insubstantial. The check-in process was very smooth once we got the text message at 3:09 pm. We never had to use the U-tech app, so it's unclear why the booking info said it was needed. Because we hadn't heard anything before the text we got after 3 pm, we called and left messages leading up to and after 3 about the check-in process. It all became clear and easy once the text arrived, so receiving a text well before 3 acknowledging the reservation and check-in process with a note that the final instructions will be sent when the room is ready to be occupied would have helped.
One other thing to note is that the door leading out to the balcony on the front of the building locks behind you. Fortunately, Mark was onsite and answered our call to open the door and let us back in. The trick is to use the paint stick to keep the door from closing all the way. That allowed us to sit on the balcony and listen to the great live music from the Mei Wah Beer room across the street on Sundays.

There seems to be a disconnect between the bar and the hotel. The bar staff was almost rude, telling me the hotel check in is all internet. The hotel itself, after climbing the long flight of stairs to get to it, was charming. Large, clean room with coffee set up. It was very quiet.

Liked: Cleanliness
The room itself was nice, and clean. There was no check-in; they text you with a code to open the outside door and the room door. No interaction with any staff in two days stay. Get in touch well before you arrive. The room literally buzzed from the air handling equipment from the restaurant/bar downstairs. It stopped at 9pm closing time. But when the AC came on at night, the vents would rattle. Other than that no real problems with the hotel. Isleton is pretty funky, probably not for everybody.
I would not really recommend this hotel. I ended up not staying here because I felt uncomfortable. It is a bare minimum hotel with questionable decor. The codes to get into the hotel and to your room are easy to find information and that made me feel unsafe. There was no staff onsite other than at the restaurant.
The restaurant said it closed at 8 or 9 but we walked in at 6:45 and they would not serve us. There was no food anywhere else in the town so I ended up grabbing packaged food from the convenience store down the road. If you can avoid staying here or in the town, I'd recommend that.
It was pitch black when we entered the (reception )area thought it was a storage closet. Had to use the flashlight on my phone to find the room down a very small dark hall. Put in the the key code didn’t work so we ran. It looked like a place of I’ll repute. Old old everything. It was rated by Expedia at a 3-5 star facility. I already paid $450.00 for 3 days so went to find a Best Western and paid $500.00 plus for 3 days. Much better.
