SHIAWA-SEA COTTAGE, LLC, is a 2 bedroom/1 bath (shower stall), classic, family-owned Property, with cedar shake-look siding and sand-colored, standing-seam, metal roof, 2 blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, in a quiet, residential, SC coastal neighborhood/barrier Island. Your stay will be the perfect get-away for couples traveling together and small families. If you are staying for a month with a Dog your Fee will be $10 per pet per night.

You first enter the expansive, cobalt blue carpeted screen porch, through a hand-crafted, mahogany door with South Carolina's state flag logo (palmetto/moon). On the porch, you will capture the ocean breeze and relax in the Pawleys Island Rope Hammock, enjoy appetizers/beverages, in the original Bentwood-style furniture dining area, and begin your stay on the Island. Cottage-style features include ceiling fans, glass block/leaded glass windows, maple hardwood floors & stucco walls.

You enter the dining room, through the ocean blue, hardwood door. A solid oak, antique table (seats 6), a carved-wood buffet, Ethan Allen dry sink cabinets & apothecary chest, enhance the classic Cottage features.

The Bedrooms, have queen-size beds and ocean blue quilts with nautical linens. The Cottage has central heat and air conditioning for the non-optimal seasons.

The open Family-kitchen, has a 50 inch flat screen, HD, wall-mounted TV. The original kitchen cabinets (circa 1946) are white-painted solid wood, the countertops are classic white Formica. A Classic Blue by Unique bottom-mount freezer with icemaker new in 2023. The Cobalt blue, hand-pottered, whale- accented ceramic tile back splash, will enhance your culinary experience. On the front deck, a gas grill is available for outdoor cooking & an umbrella table/chairs are available for al fresco dining.

From the Family-kitchen, you go down the internal stairwell to access the lower level (LL) laundry room.

The hot tub, which is maintained at 100-102 degrees , is perfect for enjoying the afternoon sun and watching the sunset. The outdoor shower room near the hot tub, has hot and cold water, allowing for year-round use. You have use of the year-round maintained, unheated pool, which is on our adjacent, 310 Palm Blvd. coastal Property.

South Carolina's moderate climate allows for year-round outdoor activities with beach days extending into December. The ocean temperature moderates in mid-April with 'good ole' summertime to follow. Enjoy the lazy days of summer on 'Main Street', our wide, sandy beach, just a 2 block walk away. In late Fall/Holiday-time/Winter, you will find the sitting area, near the gas log fireplace, to be a perfect spot to enjoy hot & cold beverages after a brisk walk/run on the beach. Also, the outdoor firepit awaits you to roast our succulent, salty local oyster clusters.

We know you will enjoy longer walks on the beach to Front Beach, for seafood, burgers, tacos, pizza, tropical drinks and live music. Also, you can take a short beach walk to Breach Inlet for dolphin/sunset-watching and dining at the Boathouse. We are confident you will enjoy your stay with us, where we have worked, raised children, enjoyed SC Coastal living and our Island lifestyle for 45 (and counting!) years.

Worst stay with VRBO ever
About an hour before check in we got a message from the host that there was damage from the week before the Tropical Storm. When we arrived, there was an 8-foot hole in the ceiling with a tarp over it in the bedroom- they had to turn the air off because of the leak, and it was over 80 in the room most of the weekend. I would have preferred knowing this ahead of time so we could have tried to make other arrangements, but since it was last minute, there was nothing else available. In addition, the bath and a half is misleading- the half bath is really just an outdoor shower down by the hot tub. After a few very hot days we decided to use the pool we have access to next door- it was beyond filthy- we could not even get in the pool. If I was able I would post pictures here- when I have shown friends they can't believe we actually stayed.

Great Location
We really enjoyed our stay, Marilyn made us feel at home and checked to make sure everything was fine upon arrival. My wife and I stayed with our two dogs and the neighborhood and surrounding area is dog friendly. The house has a swimming pool and two screened in porches which we enjoyed and the location is great. Th e neighborhood is quiet and everyone friendly. The house is less than 5 minute walk to the beach and a short drive to Sullivans Island and Charlestown. We would definitely stay there again.

Another Amazing Trip at IOP
We've been coming to IOP since 2020 and this is the 4th year staying at Marilyn's property! This was the first year staying during 4th of July and it was so fun. Her house is so clean when you step in, and smells amazing. It has everything you need and more. The location is walkable to the beach and a quick drive to Sullivan's and Charleston. My daughter loves relaxing on the hammock on the porch. We usually use the pool a lot but my 2 year was all about the beach this year so I got to swim in the pool for a bit the one day and the water was so refreshing and talked the family that lives in the house where the pool is and the husband and wife were very nice. We're always looking forward to our IOP trip and staying at Marilyn's place!

Best beach vacation!
As advertised! Hidden gem amongst highly priced properties. If not expecting the most luxury updated property than this is it. They have made nice touches with hot tub and pool and outdoor shower. Also the screened porch was nice!

Charming Relaxation
This cottage is a hidden gem among the typical looming new structures on the island. Morning coffee (bring your own or get some at the nearby Harris Teeter store) was lovely at the front deck cafe table or in the screened porch. The beach is a very short 2 block walk. Although we ate out for all our meals, the kitchen was well stocked with baking, cooking, and grilling necessities. There are so many things to do and see in the Charleston area that we spent very little time here, but it was just the kind of place that we wanted to relax and unwind after our busy days!

Plenty of stuff…perfect for someone just not us. Too many nick nack’s everywhere. We really didn’t need all the decorations and would have preferred to have the space open and for our use. Bathroom very tiny….There needs to be a place to put bathroom article and definitely bring your own toilet paper. What is provided felt like news print. Bedrooms were perfect size and plenty of sheets, comforters and towels etc. For us the Porch was the most used space. Lightening was a problem. There was little lighting for walking on the stairs and pathways outside.

Great location for October getaway!
We had never been to Charleston area before so we booked this for a weeklong getaway. This was the perfect location to easily drive in to the city and nearby Sullivan's Island. 3 minute walk to the beautiful beach and 1 mile walk to breakfast/restaurants in IOP. We really loved the outdoor shower and used the hot tub every single night. October was the perfect time to go as the island was quiet and the beaches were mostly empty while the water is still swimmable. We would definitely come back every October.

We very much enjoyed our stay! The front porch was amazing and where we spent most of our time. The listing needs some updated photos and to clarify that the pool is not part of the property. To our surprise, it was much cuter in person. We would definitely stay again if ever in IOP.

Spotlessly clean. Nice to have outdoor shower/hose access to hose off our dog after beach time. The location was close to the store and roads to Charleston, as well as walking to the beach. The beds were comfy(very firm, which I like) but a king size would have been nice. Since we had 2 rooms, my husband could sleep in the other room if I was tossing too much. The bathroom was adequate, but definitely small. Our dog loved to relax in the screened porch while I read. It was lovely .

Relaxing trip
We enjoyed our trip to IOP. This VRBO provided a great location for us. The hammock, screened in porch, hot tub, outside shower, and access to a semi private pool were the biggest draws for us when booking this home. We found IOP beach to be a family friendly and more laid back option which was perfect for our family. Cars shared the road very well with us when we walked the 2 blocks to the closest beach access trail as well as when we rode our bikes the mile in to the souvenir shops and ice cream joint. My daughter and I enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings when the sun was setting and the breeze was stronger. The outside shower was very helpful to clean off chlorine and sand. It was also quite spacious in comparison to the tiny stall shower inside. We did enjoy the pool most days. It was preferable for our family to utilize the semi private pool rather than a public pool at a condo. It was somewhat awkward not knowing who was in the adjacent home where the pool was located. It would have been reassuring to know, upfront, it was the owners family and they were accustomed to sharing the pool. We were a bit disappointed that the pool filter wasn’t working but we used a net to clear out debris and made the best of it. Thank you for opening your rental to us! Tips: Check out Sea Biscuit for breakfast. There is a short wait but it’s worth it. We found the best IOP souvenir options for the price at Pipline in Mt. Pleasant.
