Prepare to enjoy the natural beauty around you as you and your crew settle into the newly-built, custom crafted log cabin known as Cozy Dog. Log furniture, wide board floors, and alder wood cabinets with granite counter tops are indicative of the care and quality that have gone into the building of this country retreat. While the cabin kit was purchased from a West Virginia company, the home was built by a local craftsman, known for his cabin building skills over the 2015-16 timeframe.
Cross the front porch and enter the cabin’s large living/dining area where you’re sure to appreciate the wood-burning fireplace, cushy sofa, and lofty cathedral ceiling. Off to the side is the beautiful kitchen, complete with stainless steel side-by-side fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and stove, plus all the small counter top appliances you might need, as well. What a treat to experiment with recipes old and new in such a nice cooking space! Once you’ve finished the last bite, mosey out to the back porch some digestion and discussion time together…from here you can overlook the secluded wooded setting with its campfire area, and horseshoe pit.
Whoever calls dibs on the master bedroom (king) will surely enjoy the cozy log-framed king size bed, (all log beds and bedside tables were hand-crafted by the owner), for a restful night’s sleep. Upstairs are two more bedrooms, with queen size beds, and another bath to share between second-floor guests. Downstairs is where your competitive gene can surface, as you challenge your cabin-mates to a game of pool, cards, corn hole, board games, puzzles, or…the owners’ personal favorite…Scrabble! A huge, wall-mounted scrabble game with magnetic letters will delight the wordsmiths in the crowd. Carpeting on the lower level creates a quiet and inviting area for the bedroom with queen size bed, and third bathroom.
The walk-out basement features a covered porch with a six-person hot tub, the built-in charcoal grill, and access to the horseshoe pit and the campfire circle.
The cabin owners’ future plans call for creating a walking trail through their nine acres of woods for Cozy Dog guests’ enjoyment.
If you travel with your four-legged, extended family member, you’ll be happy to know that Cozy Dog log cabin is dog-friendly for the well-behaved and house-trained pooch. Please ask about bringing Spot along when you call to make your reservations. He’ll likely enjoy the weekend rendezvous just as much as you do.
