Not as expected
Surroundings of property were shabby at best. Owner gave detailed instructions that were more micromanagement which include smalled typed multiple pages. NOT 2 bedroom. Pull out sofa was terrible so owner provided a foam topper that was very dirty. Bathroom sink was copper so owner warned us not to use any soap/chemical except the provided hand soap. (We used the kitchen sink to brush our teeth and shave.) We paid a fee for our well behaved dog yet the owner kept reminding us not to let him damage her property. She advertised washer/dryer but when I asked about it she said it is available if I HAVE to wash clothes. (In her very packed garage. I did not feel comfortable using the washer.) The first night the power went out for three hours on the coldest night in Houston (19) Then for two days there was a busted pipe the own was trying to repair herself. We had to hurry and take showers one morning and were told owner would be away from the place until 5pm and needed more time to fix the pipe. (We stayed with family and were not there anyway.) The next day she asked us to please be out by 10am. We got up extra early to be ready to go. She called before we left to tell us she would wait until we left to turn the water off. Then, the day before we left I received an emailed statement saying I owed an additional $41.25 for city taxes even though I had paid in full on the day I booked the place. I called VRBO and was told I am not responsible for this fee as VRBO collects only state and county taxes at 13%. This issue is still not resolved. The email appears to have come from VRBO. I explained to the owner what VRBO told me but she said it is part of the contract that I own her the city taxes. I plan to address this again with VRBO once the holiday is over (New Years).
