An old coach house

Pros: It had character if you liked old places that creaked and was too hot!
Cons: Air con in the bedrooms to avoid having to open windows on to the passing road
Location: Not far from Seascale and Wastwater - very convenient for walking in the Lakes
Because of the age of the property there were creaks everywhere so that when a neighbouring guest left early for work (some as early as 5.30am to get presumably to nearby Sellafield) the floors boards on the landing creaked and groaned and all the doors could be heard shutting behind them. It was also nice warm weather when we were there but no air con in the bedroom so we had to get the small windows open as wide as we could. However once traffic started going past in the early morning sleep was finished for the night! Food generally good although on the first night we ate in the main bar where everyone ordered food and their drinks so there was constantly a crowd of people stood close to our table. On the third night we ate in an "overflow" area which was much more pleasant. Food generally good but limited fresh fruit for breakfast. The rest of our party stayed in nearby Gosforth where we ate with them on Day 2 and I think they got much better overall value for money. Staff very pleasant and helpful but wouldn't return if we re-visited the area.
