Sweet and cozy cottage
Loved the doggies (Willard!), who greeted us upon arrival. Loved the serenity of the natural surroundings. The cottage is totally comfy and almost magical if you’re ok with a vintage vibe. Super private. The covered porch looking at the horses and mountains was like therapy (I lost my 30 yo thoroughbred the same week). The bathroom was really challenging but it wouldn’t deter us from booking again. It’s the perfect balance of unpretentiousness and charm! Short drives to Hendersonville and Brevard were fun. The hour drive to Greenville SC was totally worth it! Saw a black bear on the NC Arboretum trails. So much fun! The mountains and peace and quiet were healing to the soul. We took everything at a chill pace but packed a lot in.

Perfect spot for weekend getaway with small children
We loved our stay and will definitely come back. Outdoor space was nice, and furniture/beds were cozy. Kitchen had everything we needed, and the cottage was clean and super cute. Note- the mattresses are on the softer side. We all slept great, but noting for folks that prefer a harder mattress. Plenty of linens and towels for everyone, and super convenient to Dupont State Park hikes and waterfalls. Also convenient to Pisgah and Brevard. The bathroom is on the smaller side, but that wasn't an issue for us. My kids loved watching the horses in the pasture across the street. Overall perfect for our weekend getaway.

Precious Cottage!
We loved our stay at the quaint farmhouse. It is a precious small cottage in all the best ways. Our children are already asking to go back. We loved greeting the horses in the morning and loving a sweet pup as well. Great proximity to all Hendersonville has to offer. We went snowtubing, explored the downtown area and hiked to triple falls before heading home. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. Can’t wait to come back for another visit.

Charming home and great location
We enjoyed this historic home and beautiful surrounding property so much that we requested to stay an additional evening. The hosts were great at communication. The home was clean. We took our baby on his first trip and this was the perfect place to stay. It was small enough that we could safely keep an eye on him but had a separate room to accommodate his travel crib for restful sleep. It was also very close to the waterfall hikes and Jeter Mountain Farm Orchard (which allowed the baby to only have short rides in the car seat-another plus)! The bathroom tub/shower is very small as others have mentioned. It didn’t bother me, as it’s part of the authenticity of a historic home, but will say my husband had a harder time with it. Again, the small bath made it easy with the baby. The property is just so relaxing and pretty. It was very nice to sit at the fire pit in the evenings and listen to the horses all around. The air smells sweet, there is a nice breeze and the colors in the sky are especially great at sunrise and sunset. We cooked and the kitchen had all of the basic things we needed. We also appreciated having a place to do laundry so we could come home with all clean clothes.

Little Slice of Heaven
We wanted a beautiful stay in the country and that’s exactly what we got! Tranquility, beauty and relaxation, all while being close to the things we came to do: hiking, swimming in waterfalls, horseback riding. I highly recommend this beautifully updated 1920’s farmhouse nestled in the middle of a working horse farm. Where you can sit on the porch and eat your supper and listen to the horses neigh, have amazing sunset views, and watch the fire flies dance when the sun goes down. It was a little slice of heaven.

Amazing location, very cute and comfortable cottage
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The setting is magical - beautiful mountains, rolling hills and farmland, with horses right across the street. A nice little yard for the kids to roam around. The house was comfortable and well laid-out. Perfect location for exploring DuPont and Pisgah. Note that there is no cell service in the area, and the wifi is dependent on satellite. There were limited supplies in the house, but we brought our own food and only stayed for two nights so that wasn't an issue. We will be back!

Charming Cottage
The 1920’s farmhouse cottage is charming and a privilege to experience. The farm is beautiful, and every window in the cottage has an exceptional view. We arranged for our granddaughter to have a riding lesson during our visit, and we all appreciated viewing the horses in the the pasture across the street from the porch. Anyone who appreciates vintage charm in a farm setting would enjoy this location.

Blue Ghosts and White Squirrels
So we were going to cancel our trip because the Cradle of Forestry cancelled our tour to see the blue ghost fireflies. Thankfully Olivia was able to tell us some other places to look and we had a successful adventure! The house was awesome and so cute. My youngest really enjoyed seeing the horses across the street. As an added bonus, Brevard was having their White Squirrel Festival. We didn't think they were real until we saw one while driving down the road. What a cool weekend. Thanks!

Charming and Peaceful, close to trails
I loved this cottage and would definitely choose to stay again! It’s completely adorable. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable. We loved the fireplace and the pretty horses across the street. The bathroom is tiny and the shower clumsy…I can see how someone else might not like it, but I thought it was cute and added to the charm of the place. The cottage is a lot closer to the main house than I expected, and it’s also close to the road. Some people might like a more private place. The road was not busy though, and the landscaping provides perfectly placed trees between the cottage and house. The cottage was not as close to the DuPont trails as I expected. The listing said .04 but it’s definitely more like .4. That’s still close, but when you’re wanting to hike or bike from the cottage, it makes a difference. To get to the nearest trail, it’s uphill the whole way, but that made for a fun way to finish when we rode back home! Overall, I was very happy with the location and cottage and would definitely recommend it.

Everyone in Hendersonville was extremely nice and pleasant, great food, great trails and beautiful waterfalls. The only thing I would have minimal complaint about is the low hot water pressure in the rental.

Dupont Horse Getaway!
We always enjoy the stay at Shoal Creek. The cottage is over a 100 years old which provides character with all the amenities. We appreciate the use of a couple pastures for our trusty steeds while there. The location is perfect for riding out to the Dupont trails or trailering over to other trailheads nearby. It's just a short drive to Brevard with cute shops and good restaurants. Bring lots of fly spray for the horses if you bring them this time of year.

Disappointed
When we arrived. The internet and cable was not working. We made a call and they got it fixed. Also the next day the water in the bathtub/shower had no pressure and was barely coming out. Also there was a terrible smell. We came down for the weekend for a marriage retreat. 2 night stay. Very disappointed. They said they could come down to take a look at the bathtub situation. This was at 8:30 pm. Needless to say it definitely ruined our romantic get away having someone in the house late at night. They were not able to fix the water. No apology was made. We were hoping for some type of discount after the trouble. It was a weekend getaway that was very disappointing.

Cute cottage
We liked this property overall. It’s comfortable, quiet, clean, nicely landscaped, and the front porch is a plus. The big drawback is the bathroom. It’s annoyingly tiny and could use an upgrade. We stayed at the property for its proximity to DuPont State Forest. The hike to the waterfalls was worth some strenuous sections and the falls were stunning. Go early to avoid crowds. Now that we’ve checked that off our list of things we wanted to experience I don’t think we will book the cottage again. We spent our last day in the mountains at the Biltmore Estate and had a great time.
