The Space:
Our newly-renovated cabin has all the comforts of home, nestled away in the WV mountains surrounded by old-growth forest bustling with wildlife. Directly behind the cabin is the Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area: nearly 23,000 acres of old growth forest that’s full of wildlife. You’ll wake up to hear the birds chirping and chipmunks chattering away – and we often see deer, foxes, rabbits, turkeys, and even the occasional bear. If you’re looking to get out of the city and recharge in nature, this is the perfect place. (And the best part is you’re only 15 minutes from town!). Green Valley Retreat is fun for couples, families, or groups of friends -- and is the perfect home base for your getaway!
The cabin includes:
- Two bedrooms - One with a queen bed, the other with a queen/twin bunk combo, plus a sleeper sofa in the living room
- A spacious deck for relaxing and grilling, with a large screened-in porch
- Central AC to keep you comfortable when it’s warm
- Open main room with plenty of natural light
- Brand new hot tub, perfect for unwinding after a long day
- Outdoor fire pit to wind down the evening with s’mores!
- An outdoor yard game treasure box full of activities for kids and adults: corn hole, volleyball, soccer and kick balls, horseshoes, and many more!
One quick note: our cabin is secluded, and without reliable cell service. We do have a hotspot at the cabin for WiFi service, but the signal strength can be unpredictable. We love disconnecting from the world while we’re there and putting away our smart phones, but please plan accordingly. That said, we have plenty of board games and outdoor games to enjoy!
We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).
Things of Note: On occasion, our well water can produce a sulfur smell. Don't worry, this is normal and common with wells in rural areas and perfectly safe.
You will be provided a copy of the Sleepy Hollow Lot Owners Association House Rules after confirming your reservation, and we will ask you to acknowledge receipt and acceptance of the House Rules.
Beyond the cabin itself, the Hedgesville / Berkeley Springs area is great for so many reasons -- and Green Valley Retreat is just a short drive to everything. The Woods is one of the top golf courses in the state, with a wonderful spa, hiking trails, and a restaurant/pub as well. And the town of Berkeley Springs has been voted one of the top arts communities in the US, with dozens of shops and restaurants, and even a brewery and winery!
