Meticulous care and attention has been given in furnishing Almond cottage, with almost all pieces being reclaimed, restored, upholstered or painted in a shabby chic vintage finish. Almond cottage is big on comfort and beds! From the exquisite vintage super king that splits into two singles to the sumptuous French Linen upholstered bunk beds, definitely suitable for adults. A good night's sleep is essential to enjoy your stay so most mattresses are memory foam or luxury pocket sprung and cashmere topped. The master bedroom hosts an opulent William Holland cooper bateau bath to soak away life's stresses & strains to rejuvenate. The upstairs bathroom has a nickel slipper bath, with toiletries included while downstairs there is a stylish wet room.

Almond cottage dates back to 1873 and has been gutted and sympathetically restored over a 4 year period to provide a comfortable vintage chic holiday home, incorporating a bit of luxury and all mod cons. There is no mass produced furniture in the cottage and many pieces show their history with imperfections and patina.

Whatever the weather Almond cottage caters for it, from lounging in the landscaped garden in summer to snuggling in front of the open fire in winter, or perhaps trying out your culinary skills on the range cooker in the well equipped kitchen with underfloor heating and reclaimed marble worktops. Children can be kept entertained too with plenty of toys.

Almond cottage location is superb, being only a 5 minutes stroll from the Lido and award winning King George V memorial walk, with its sub tropical gardens overlooking the Hayle Estuary. A further 15 minutes walk brings you to the beginning of 3 miles of golden sands & turquoise sea overlooking St Ives Bay. A 10 minute drive and your reach the surfing beaches and schools at Gwithians. Much of this stretch is dog friendly all year round.

Hayle is a small up and coming estuary town with a big history. Once being the world's most important mining port Hayle gained UNESCO world Heritage status in 2006. The beach starts at the mouth of the beautiful estuary which is an international quality bird watching spot, (The estuary is owned by the RSBP and is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest) and ends at Godvery lighthouse. With stunning walks and views along the cliff tops, it well deserved being awarded Cornwall's first 'walkers are welcome' status. Hayle also houses two of the award winning Mr B's ice cream shops- the best ice cream around- vegan options available :) It has several restaurants, cafes and supermarkets and is home to Paradise Park wildlife sanctuary and jungle barn. The new multi-million pound development at North quay hosts, restaurants cafe and shops right on the waterfront.

Hayle is a great base for exploring the surrounding area from The Eden Project in the north to Lands End in the south . Across the bay is St Ives town with its stunning Tate gallery and nearby there are many little seaside Ports with cafes and artisan shops, for example Mousehole, Marazion & Porthleven to name but a few.
Babes in arms, children over 3 years and up to 3 dogs are welcome, (4 miniture dogs) but please read the age restrictions on bedrooms to ensure Almond cottage meets your party's requirements.

A good base for Cornwall
We stayed here as a family group of 10 incl. 3 generations. We found the house charming, and we were able to explore around Cornwall from Penzance to Tintagel from this central location. I chose to round up to 5 overall stars because the host was quick to assist when we needed a question answered and we were happy travelers, but I will note a few things which would've made the stay even better: We were only able to use the one shower on the ground floor because the one upstairs over the antique tub was very impractically tight. Assume you'll need to bathe or share one shower. It should be noted that the main staircase divides in one direction toward the bathroom and the bedroom with bunked beds, and then splits in the other direction toward the 3 remaining bedrooms. This means that the guests in those 3 bedrooms must go down one flight of stairs and up another to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Just want to note that for other travelers who may have difficulty on a lot of stairs in the dark. The clothes dryer vents inside, onto the floor. This creates a wet floor and a great deal of steam. While we wanted to dry our clothes, we didn't want to expose the house to that kind of steam, so we needed to open the back door and shut the door to the rest of the house whenever we needed to run that appliance. We would've much preferred just using a clothes line or drying rack, but none could be found. Overall, we enjoyed our stay & would consider returning!

Hayle family holiday
Lovely roomy cottage for larger families, very clean on arrival with a much appreciated small welcome pack. Location easy to find, with a 10-15 minute walk to the beach. Shops and amenities just a few minutes walk away. We would stay again.

Pretty well located cottage
Lovely property, fabulous garden, host was helpful, a bit too full of furniture for me, some challenges to get the oven working, as it wasn’t left ready to use, which was a shame. I figured it out after several attempts and different you tube videos - great location for everything, helpful welcome folder, no coffee, beautiful bath though I had to clean before use, same for lots of utensils

A wonderful costal cottage ❤️
We stayed at Almond Cottage over the May half term- as two families and children age 10,11,13 and 13. We had the most amazing stay and we were blessed with the weather. The cottage is very cosy and loved the luxury touches - especially the comfy beds and copper baths! The location is fantastic and close to the beach (20minutes walk), out door pool, shops and local pubs. We were a short bus ride from Carbis Bay snd St ives which the children loved! We can highly recommend this beautiful holiday home and a great location to explore the local area.

Wonderful Birthday Break in Fantastic Property
Booked a last minute break for a few nights to celebrate my wife’s birthday with friends. What an amazing place, so glad we found this house! We all loved the unique décor, a real home from home and the baths were to die for. We had everything we could possibly need for our stay, and a lovely welcome pack for our arrival. The property was spotless, beds super comfortable, and kitchen equipment all good quality. We loved the coffee machine and having our breakfast in the garden. The house is in a great location for the beach, so we didn’t even need the car and we were blessed with sunshine. Communication with Moira was lovely and prompt too. Thank you for a memorable birthday, we would love to stay again.
