Start at the beginning: this is an old historic inn, not a modern all-new hotel. There are compromises: no elevators, only five rooms. Every board creaks and you can hear other people as they come and go. BUT! It is a wonderful, warm and inviting throwback to inns as they were a century or more ago. We loved it, despite the drawbacks. Nice sized rooms, very comfy bed, an ideal location in the town of Hammondsport, which is a great slice of Americana in the heart of wine country, with the most famous of the Finger Lakes wineries just a few minutes away. It sits right on the lovely town square, with breakfast/ice cream shop, gift shops, three or more good restaurants, pharmacy, liquor/wine shop and Irish pub all within a slow two minute walk. For us, 5.0 out of 5.0, but for others maybe not so much. If you need your modern amenities, better try elsewhere.
