I did not like the steps up to the landing where the lift was, which are difficult for my wife, who uses a Rollator, to negotiate. I was pleased about the breakfast and in particular being told that the cappuccino and espresso coffee that my wife and I are so used to at home are also on offer.

It was fine. The customer service was not friendly or inviting as other posts had said. Also, I sat down to breakfast thinking it was included (I had forgotten whether I booked breakfast or not). I told my server my room number and they acted as though it was included, but then I was handed a bill at the end. I had not booked breakfast and this is my fault ultimately, but the server really should have said something when I gave my room number, not after we ate. Otherwise, it was fine.

Very close to the train station and bus stops. 15 minute walk to the lake. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Elke and Pierre were great! I was very happy with this hotel and have recommended it to friends.

Great Hotel to Stay
My stay at the hotel was a fantastic one.The hotel interior is beautiful, It is well maintained and very clean The bed linen is class and very comfortable. Th bathroom is so well dedigned and very clean. The frontdesk staff(Ilke and Regina) are super. Welcoming, helpful,pleasant and they make you feel at home all the time.. We didn't want to leave..oh my God. Our expectation was exceeded beyond beyond..Hotel am Rottenbaum..thank you and we will return.

Great place to stay for single female traveler.
Safe place to stay for single female traveler. Great neighborhood, restos, location. Compared prices with other areas and this hotel was just slightly more pricey for a far superior location. Will stay again due to high comfort level of location and overall quality.

Comfortable hotel in cute neighborhood
I was in Hamburg on a quick last-minute trip and this hotel was a great find. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the room itself was comfortable and outfitted with everything I needed. The neighborhood is also so adorable, with cafés and neighborhood shops nearby and right across the street from the Hallerstraße station. The only negative thing to note was that the free Wi-Fi in the room was somewhat slow, but not a huge issue.

Great stay, very friendly staff.
The best part was the personality of the lady at the reception desk.I arrived at 1700 (5pm) on 4 August and she was as friendly and helpful as can be. She took the time to help me plan out my site-seeing and gave me a few good tips. She surely did not have the "German" mentality. Would highly recommend this place. The rooms were clean and comfortable and excellent wifi. If coming from the Hamburg HBF, take the Blue Line (U1) towards Nordenstatt and get off at Hallestrasse. The hotel is across the street.

Unfortunately no air-con in the rooms. So during my stay, where it has been very hot outside, it also was much too warm inside (in the room)! The windows only have curtains - but since the street is a rather busy street, it would improve and reduce the noise level, when the hotel rooms pointing towards the "Rothenbaum Chaussee", when these would be equipped with either oustide window blinds, or window shutters.
