This hotel/resort does provide a free shuttle service from 3-5pm (with no reservations) at the Kowakidani station. They will send you an email the day of your arrival inquiring about your arrival time. If you arrive outside that time, they can make arrangements.
Overall, getting to Hakone seemed stressful on Google maps, but it was actually EXTREMELY charming taking all the local transportation (switchback trains, etc.) through this city. It was incredibly charming riding up the mountain, and when we arrived at Kowakidani station, the shuttle was right there to pick us up and take us to the hotel.
Although the staff didn't speak too much English, this wasn't a problem. They offered an English map of the facility and directions on how to use the onsen. The hotel offers both dinner and breakfast. For our dinner, we had the options to order BBQ or Sukiyaki dinner. We loved the BBQ option (but tried both for the experience). Breakfast is a traditional Japanese breakfast, but we did notice some other foreigners ordering Western style breakfast too. If you have children, be sure that the front desk is aware of this because they have separate smaller meal for children.
Overall, the onsens were wonderful. We tried multiple ones and they switch out the gender onsens every morning.
