Great location and a short drive from Kenmare
We had a great week at Bedrock cottage, we were able to easily access the Beara Peninsula as well as other magnificent parts of the Ring of Kerry. We especially enjoyed The Reeks and cycling on the roads in the area. The tearooms at Lord Brandon's cottage were really great (cash only). We had a fantastic time.

Quiet beauty. Spacious cottage for two (or more) There is an issue with insects, possibly termites. The management dealt with our concerns promptly and courteously.

A magical view. A helpful host. A gateway to Kenmare.
Bedrock cottage was indeed a marvel. The view of Kenmare Bay may be one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. The Irish light changed the mountain scape of Beara every hour. The house was very comfortable, the kitchen, bedrooms, bath, all splendid. The owner was very helpful and communicative. I would go back in a second.

Stay at Bedrock
A fabulous location in wonderful countryside. Linda very helpful. A swarm of bees arrived at the same time as us and Linda went out of her way to deal with it including alternative accommodation in a nearby hotel while it was sorted. Many thanks Linda. Tim

Bedrock cottage: peace and quiet
Wonderful views over the Kenmare River. A great area for sitting outside, with picnic table. Big windows. Surrounded by trees, flowers and birds. Super efficient heating and Wi-Fi. Well-equipped kitchen. Quite remote, up a narrow lane, not suitable for driving back after an evening in the pub! Needs a little updating: curtains in bedrooms are very thin, letting in light in the mornings; a couple of floor lamps in the sitting area would make reading easier in the evenings; and a new sofa would be nice. Anyway we had a great stay - and if you like peace and quiet, and great views, this one’s for you!

Wonderful Cottage Above Kenmare Bay
We enjoyed an idyllic respite at Patrick’s cottage on a hill overlooking the bay. Bedrock Cottage was a perfect spot from which to take day trips to Beara and Kerry Peninsulas, Kenmare, Killarney, and more. The cottage is perched above a valley, where on our first evening we watched a dog herd cattle back to a nearby barn. The view was different every day; the changing colors in the water and various formations of mists between mountains and water invariably spectacular. Bees, birds, and butterflies…lovely flowers and foliage…the setting is truly bucolic. Patrick was very responsive to our questions. This was our first trip to Ireland, and we loved it all—from the music and pints in the pubs to the cow standing atop a boulder on a remote outcropping near Allihies. We hope to return soon!

Hillside view of inlet is beautiful
Bedrock cottage was a great find. It has a beautiful view of the lough or inlet and mountains beyond. Short drive to Kenmare which has many pub and restaurant offerings. A quiet hillside location surrounded by wildflowers. Could use a more comfortable couch.

Beautiful country setting
This was exactly what we wanted for our stay in Ireland. Beautiful views, old time feel of the cottage, very quiet outdoors. We spent our days out sightseeing so it was great coming home to this every evening. The cottage is so comfy and cozy. We had everything we needed to prepare our evening meals and breakfast. I didn’t want to leave. I loved waking up to that view every morning.

Bedrock is an ideal base to explore the Ring of Kerry, the National Park, Kenmare , the cliffs, hills and sea shores in comfortable driving distance. The ever changing views over the Kenmare River (bay) are just magnificent at any time of day and tidal level. Bedrock is well equipped and a homely residence . stunning views, super quiet and comfy!
Patrick's cottage was well equipped for anything we might need. We cooked dinner there one night, no problem. The beds and pillows were the comfiest of our entire Ireland vacation, so we rested deeply and well. We couldn't stop looking out the windows!--what a delight it was to wake up bleary eyed from the long hikes of the day before to see the stunning Kenmare Bay greeting us while we enjoyed our morning tea. The vantage point is phenomenal! We enjoyed the sunrises and sunsets here so much. Tucked out of the way from both Kenmare and Killarney, it was still an excellent place to access all the attractions of Killarney National Park / Gap of Dunloe and an easy drive to enjoy Kenmare town. If we had more time, it would have been a great jumping off point for Ring of Kerry and the Beara Peninsula drives as well... alas, just not enough time! We were sad to leave, and would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you, Patrick!

Lovely cottage in a great location!
Bedrock Cottage exceeded out expectations. The house was comfortable, clean and well equipped. The owner and manager were easy to deal with and anticipated all our needs. We chose this as a perfect spot from which to launch adventures in every direction but we were just as happy to be right there. Having the utilities included in the rental kept things simple. We highly recommend Bedrock Cottage. Eileen & Pat Hudson Valley New York

5 star location with brilliant views of Kenmare Bay
Lovely spacious and cosy cottage (very effective underfloor heating) with great views from large French windows. Hurricane-proof too (Ophelia struck during our stay)..! Friendly, helpful owner. Less than 15 mins drive into Kenmare for pubs, restaurants etc and only 25 mins into Killarney National Park. Ring of Kerry road 5 mins. Didn't manage to get the driveway lights working and a few bulbs missing or not working (outside light, cooker hood, extractor fan etc). Had we mentioned these relatively minor issues at the time I'm sure Patrick would have sorted for us but we didn't so that's our fault. If we find ourselves in these parts again we would book again without hesitation. Internet worked well. Ring of Kerry golf club next door too. Detached, private, peaceful. Flat-screen TV would be nice. Very enjoyable all-round.

Perfect setting, condition and facilities, faultless
The cottage has stunning views and is even ideal when the gales are howling and that horizontal rain lashing between the sunny days. The fishing was excellent. The cottage was sufficiently well away from centres of population to inspire some writing too. All in all a perfect stay, thank you Patrick.

rest and relaxation
Cottage was neat, clean, and as described. View was lovely even when the fog rolled in. Great spot to recuperate from surgery. Have to say the best was owner Patrick. We had a few challenges immediately. The internet was not working properly; fixed quickly. The oven broke New Years Eve and within a few hrs we had a replacement for our roast chicken dinner celebration. Next, the gas went out on the cook-top and we had a replacement propane tank within an hour. Can not say enough nice things about Patrick! He brought us a beautiful basket of goodies for our troubles. He has some good reads on his bookshelf as well. Kenmare is a lovely spot and very quiet at this time of the year. Hopefully, we can find another time to revisit. Anne and Calvin

Cosy practical cottage with a fantastic view with floor warming everywhere
I can only be enthousiastic about this cottage. Warm welcome with several presents, much privacy. The floorwarming made it feel warm everywhere. Much light entered the windows, showing a scenary beyond imagination. I felt home from the first moment. The kitchen and all equipment functioned well . That was not the case in several former cottages. The central location near Killarny National Park and the ocean did not require long trips to experience extraordinarily natural beauty. Only the weather was challenging that week.
