Nice enough for the price, but the mosquitos will keep you awake all night.
If you shower at peak morning times, expect a dribble of water most of the time.
Positives are that is close to both the train station and a McDonald’s
Booked to stay in Genoa to watch football and explore the city. The guys were really friendly and helpful. Bothing was too much for them. The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. I will be visiting Genoa again and will stay here. Hotell is a 5-10 minute walk from Genoa Brignole station. Ideally located in the heart of the town centre but close enough to the train station that means getting to othwr parts of Genoa is really easy. 30 minute walk to the football stadium also. A lot of really nice places to eat nearby. I was made to feel at home here and everyone was just very kind.
This property is not at all what we expected and in no way deserves the rating it has been given here. First of all we arrived at approx 8 in the evening and had a very difficult time finding the place. If not for a tiny sign on the sidewalk, you would not find the place. There is a small intercom with instructions in Italian which we finally deciphered and rang the bell. We were buzzed in to a lobby in a very old and dingy office building with a tiny elevator. We went to the 5th floor where we saw a glass door with an old decrepit blind covering the window. After a deep breath we entered to find a somewhat unkempt man who reeked of cigarettes, at the reception desk. NO ENGLISH. He gave us our key and we proceeded to our room. Large, spacious and verry verry old! All we could smell was a strong odor of bleach which would indicate the room had just been cleaned (or disinfected). I was worried about the bed and what I might find but it was clean and turned out to be quite comfortable. The toilet was jammed into the corner beside the tiniest shower I had ever seen and if you weigh more than 150 lbs. you may not fit into it. The included breakfast in the morning was nothing more than some pre packaged cookies and jelly rolls. And we were given one cup of coffee before the clerk, same man who had greeted us the night before went onto the balcony next to our table to have a smoke. Over all, it wasn't a terrible experience, but certainly not worthy of anything more than a 2 rating
Room was clean, most staff was really nice beside last one who wanted tax payed desperately in cash even as we said we have no cash. Water pressure in shower was a joke, bed could use a new mattress, but was clean and with a fridge too. Close to train station and bus and metro stops. Ideal for shopping. Other people were really loud even late at night.
Pros: Excellent location, Friendly staff, great value, beautiful staircase in lovely building
Cons: very noisy internally, “interesting” plumbing
Overall I would recommend this hotel
I like this place. Near The train, arch, park that oversees city. Reception is nice- upgraded me. It's style is like going back but everything works good in shower and bathroom. Has a desk and lamp on bed to soften the mood.
This hotel is excellent value for money, the location is great, within easy reach from the Genova Brignole station (3 min walk) and walking distance to Piazza De Ferrari and Porto Antico; the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, couldn't recommend it enough.
One of the best hotels in France or Italy to date. Good location, with elevator and front desk. My only gripe is that their wifi was very flaky. It was there, but it was either weak or collapsed VERY often, and I constantly had to monitor my laptop wifi icon.
One night stay in Genoa. Close enough to the station. Nice service

1 Night at Alberto Astro
My partner and I spent one night at the hotel. About a 7 minute walk from the train station. The entrance was a bit difficult to find, although there were signs. It is right next to the Sephora, and on the 5th floor (there is a lift) of a shared office building. It felt very safe and you had to be buzzed into the building. The staff were very friendly. The room was dated, but very clean. It was fair for what we paid. Unfortunately there was no hot water for a shower when we left for our early morning departure. The bed was okay. The walls were thin, easy to hear the next rooms over and the hallway.
Pros:
- Room was a good size, the content was "vintage" (or better say 'old') and not always in good condition.
- Bed was comfortable.
- Really cheap compared to other hotels in the area.
Cons:
- The room was stinky of sigarette smoking for both days and my clothes the day after were stinky like I was smoking myself the whole night.
- Lack of cleaning: in the cupboard there was no.4 empty beers bottles, maybe the cleaner didn't checked it when first cleaning the room (fortunately the second day they were gone).
- The sink in the room was broken. The staff kindly told me not to use it. No problem.
- Shower room (separate from the room with access from the corridor) had the windows lock broken. Cannot be closed and because of the windy night it stayed always open making the shower room really cold (outside it was +2°C).
- Room description was inaccurate: there was nor fridge or coffee facilities in my room.
