About this property

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Wildedge Ranch Yurt

Our cozy furnished yurt is nestled in 43 acres of secluded mountains a mile above the S Fork of the Payette River between Banks and Crouch. It offers off the grid camping (you provide your own bedding/sleeping bags) with electricity, wood burning stove, sink, propane cook stove, grill and WiFi if desired. It's close to most every outdoor activity you would find in the mountains of Idaho.

Note: Our yurt may not suitable for everyone. We do not provide bedding. There is no running water. We provide 10 gallons of fresh water in jugs and a clean porta-potty.

The space
Surround Yourself with Nature. Whether you are escaping to the mountains for a quiet getaway or using it as a basecamp for your outdoor activities, this is one adventure you will always remember. Hiking, biking, hot springs, skiing, snowshoeing, rafting, kayaking, fishing, UTV/ATV riding trails on USFS & BLM land are just a few activities that are minutes (if not out the front door) from our yurt.

It's comfortable, cozy, can sleep 5. 2 on the bottom of the bunk bed, 1 on the top and 2 on the futon. There are 3" river mats on the bunk beds. Bring your own bedding based upon the weather and season. We recommend 0-degree bags in the winter, light weight ones for the summer and don't forget your pillows! The yurt does not have running water (we provide two 5-gallon jugs of fresh artesian water) nor does it have a shower. It does have a sink where you can wash your dishes.

The yurt is heated and cooled with a mini-split. We do not provide wood for the wood stove or firepit, but do provide matches. There are places in Crouch and Garden Valley that sell firewood bundles or you can grab them at your choice of grocery or hardware store. There is lighting inside of the yurt but none on the outside, so be sure to bring your headlamps and flashlights!

There is a 2-burner propane stove with a cast iron griddle that can be used to heat up water or cook your favorite meals. There is also a propane grill on the deck. We have it stocked with most dishes and utensils needed for cooking a meal, along with a spice rack and olive oil.

If you decide on staying at this yurt, please understand it's going to require more effort than staying at a house. You will have a very short hike to the yurt, and it could be slick or muddy or in the dirt.

This yurt is the perfect spot for having a cozy retreat in the wilderness. It is quiet, secluded, and private even though we live on the property. You won't see us unless you request to see us!

Guest access
The road from the highway to the yurt visitor parking area is a rock/dirt road that is steep and narrow in a few spots. We do our best to keep the road drivable in the winter, however, the road is usually snow-covered, icy, and often not suitable for regular highway tires. AWD/4WD with snow/winter tires are highly recommended. If you have chains, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have them available. The roads are clear in the spring, summer and fall.

You can drive up close to this yurt and you will need to pack in your gear from the designated yurt parking or unloading area. In the summer you can use an ATV/UTV and in the winter you can use a snowmobile to get closer access to the yurt.
Other things to note
Bring beverages in cans, boxes, or reusable plastic bottles. No glass please.

Up to two well-behaved dogs are allowed per reservation for an additional fee.
Dog Rules: You are not allowed to leave your dog(s) inside the yurt while you are away from the property. You must take your dog(s) with you if you leave the property. Please pick up all of their poop, whether it's in the snow, dirt, mud or grass. If you need doggy bags, please let us know and we will be happy to provide them.

For the safety of wildlife, and your pets, keep an eye on them and do not let them run off into the woods, or away from the general yurt area (which is plenty of space). We have all the animals in the area including skunk, fox, porcupine, deer, elk, moose, turkey, snakes, and all the large predators such as cougar and bear.
During your stay at this cabin, you'll be within walking distance of Payette River. A sofa bed is available in the cabin.
  • Air-conditioned cabin with sofa bed
  • Just a 4-minute drive from Payette River and 9 minutes from Weilmunster Park

A Perfect Little Getaway
I have never stayed in a yurt before and was really shocked at how amazing this place was. The Yurt had many amenities such as AC, Kurig, Stove and a refrigerator. The beds were super comfy and the entire yurt was lovely and clean. The walk from the parking space to the yurt was minimal and the porta potty was very clean, possibly the cleanest that i have ever seen. The area had so many beautiful hikes near by. I hope to visit again!!

Fun experience
We needed a place to stay so I could attend the Starlight theater. Perfect location. Loved the seclusion. Porta-potty wasn't too far. You have to clean up after yourself and supplies were running low. Paper towels and mop pads. I didn't get responses from emails to the owner.

Responsive and gracious
Through no fault of the owners, our reservation was double booked. When we spoke with them about the situation, they were responsive and gracious. They did everything they could to make things right for us. Despite our stay not going as planned, I would certainly book this yurt again, or any other rentals from these owners. We appreciate their hospitality!

Yurt in the mountains
Due to heavy snowing and avalanches in the area, we were unable to reach the yurt, but I still give a good rating because the owners refunded all the money and were understanding of the situation. Hope to try again under better conditions. The road in is steep and narrow!
