The common areas of the hotel were very nice. I especially liked the roof top bar/music. It had gorgeous views and the live music was very nice. However, I cannot recommend this hotel as the bed was very uncomfortable. I made this comment to the staff when I left and they mentioned there are toppers available. Not sure if this would have helped.

Good location, amazing staff, uncomfortable beds.
Beautiful and continent hotel! The beds were not comfortable and the air does not blow on the beds so we were very hot the two nights we stayed with the air as cold as it would go. There isn’t a way to drop luggage off at the front door so be prepared to walk a bit. The staff was so helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating!

Staff and location amazing. Breakfast very good. In my opinion the hotel was missing quite few touches that you now give for granted such a international TV , milk in the fridge, minibar, soap bar. A bit pretentious but quite tired and dated hotel. For the price they charge I did expect better quality.

Great Location walking to almost everything. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Funchal.

Great stay, fantastic roof top bar from which you can see the harbour and city. Room is very clean, lovely bed and funky shower. They couldn’t do enough for us. Very welcoming.

Fantastic front desk staff. Breakfast was lovely , again best staff. Rooftop bar is a must. The bartender has a passion for his drinks. The location is excellent many restaurants and shops nearby. Easy to get around. We were a last minute booking so not the best room, but if it had been planned there are many better rooms. I was happy to stay there after the fiasco of our original booking. Beware of Bella Tiago. And NO support from hotels.com

Stay somewhere else & just go to their rooftop bar
Our room had several hairs in when we arrived which wasnt nice. Paid for a double bed and got 2 single beds pushed together with gap in the middle made up as singles which seemed old and uncomfortable. Shower was cold unless left on for 20 mins to warm up first. Free breakfast wasnt edible so used another hotel for breakfast. 24 hr front desk wasnt there as asvertised so upon checking out no one was there so they just took payment of a card id reserved with but told them i wasnt using for final payment meaning we got bank charges, when i advised them of this staff were rude and we were in another part of portugal so it was inconveniant to sort out their error while still on holiday. Only good thing was the location and the rooftop bar had nice food and drink. Would go to use that again but stay else where next time.
