Book your Flights to the United Arab Emirates with ebookers
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is made up of seven emirates or principalities, the two most popular of which for tourists are Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Through ebookers, you can book discount flights to the UAE and create your itinerary before you go.
Airports in the UAE
International travellers typically fly into Dubai International Airport or Abu Dhabi International Airport. Dubai International Airport is situated 10km east of the centre of Dubai, and Abu Dhabi International Airport sits 34km west of central Abu Dhabi.
Transportation from the Airports
After your flight to Dubai, you have the choice of taking the metro, bus or car. The Red Line metro, outside Terminal 3, takes you straight into the city centre and fares range from 2AED to 6.50AED depending on how far your journey is. Buses stop outside both terminals, and the journey time into the city centre is approximately 30 minutes. You can also hire a car from the airport, and the journey from the airport to the centre of Dubai takes about 20 minutes via the D89 highway. From Abu Dhabi International, the 901 bus will transport you to the centre of Abu Dhabi in 40 minutes for 3AED. A hire car is also an option, and the journey into Abu Dhabi takes about 30 minutes.
Weather in the UAE
The UAE has a subtropical climate, resulting in extremely hot summers and moderately warm winters. Temperatures in summer can reach 40˚C and above, with desert sand storms and a humid wind, so July and August are perhaps best avoided. In winter, temperatures are a more comfortable 23˚C, which makes this a good time to enjoy some winter sun. January is generally the coolest month of the year.
Highlights of the UAE
The UAE, especially Dubai and Abu Dhabi, are full of glitz and glamour, and some of the world’s tallest structures can be found here, such as the Burj Khalifa building, which, at 829.8m tall, is the world’s tallest building. In Dubai, shopping is a huge part of the tourism industry, and boasts over 20 shopping malls, including the Dubai Mall, as well as traditional souks, or outdoor markets. Attractions in Abu Dhabi include the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the Ferrari World theme park, and, if you want to go further afield, the Al Ain oasis, 163km east of Abu Dhabi, is a tranquil paradise away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Experience the UAE
The UAE, with its enticing shopping malls and beautiful scenery, is the holiday of a lifetime and one that you won’t forget. With ebookers, you can find cheap flights to the UAE and make sure you know exactly what you’re doing and where you’re going before you get there.
