I booked the Inn as it was near the airport for ease though it is in the flight path of Fairbanks airport. Although named an Inn, it is akin to a regular motel. My room was basic but clean, however you could hear neighbours walking around and even when getting out of bed, my floorboards creaked. The breakfast and staff were the highlights for me: there was a good choice of cold items for breakfast plus hot drinks were in reception in office hours. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful.

I enjoyed my stay and was a lone traveller so the facilities reminded of an 80’s motel and although a little outdated it was more than fine for me although some would prefer a more modern/fresh look. My partner would not have approved! Some furnishings were past their best. The staff were great, friendly and helpful and would do anything reasonable to accommodate your requirements. After all it is just somewhere to stay and like most of the US now the value has gone. If you need coffee machines and biscuits and jacuzzi baths then you shouldn’t book a room here! I personally would stay again but it’s not everyone’s taste.

The room was very small. No place in lobby to eat breakfast. We had to take it back to our room and eat on the bed. Front desk very friendly. They let us stay an extra hour in our room and then used the free shuttle to take us to the airport.

Golden North Inn is a reasonable choice near the Fairbanks airport. There is not much in the way of amenities around the site. The airport shuttle was not available on Monday evening when we arrived, so we were instructed to get a taxi from the airport and the hotel would pay for it. It took a little time to get a taxi, apparently one of the taxi companies has stopped servicing Fairbanks so they are a little scarce. Eventually a taxi did pull up to the airport and we were able to get to the hotel. The front desk clerk paid for the taxi and the driver knew the drill, so that was not a problem. The hotel is clean but old. The economy room was very small for 2 people, I would not recommend it for more than one person. The grab 'n go breakfast was decent and the coffee was good. The front desk staff were very nice.
