About this property

North Woods 16' Teepee Resort

Located in central Maine on a hundred acre wood. Experience a one of a kind vacation night in a real Cherokee Indian teepee with a full sized bed. There are 5 teepees around the field of varying sizes. Each has its own fire pit, table, and trash can. The bathroom is a port-a-potty about 100 yards away, and hot showers can be provided with assistance from the owners (they are syphoned from the stream by a generator). Located 1.5 miles west of the Exeter Town Offices, you will be met by the owner who will show you the way across the property to the teepee sites.

So relaxing
I stayed alone, it was worth the price for the time alone. They have a pile of wood to make it convenient and for 3. A bundle well worth it. Found the shower which you do drive to but it sits in a nice area. They supply bedding and lights.. I’d go back again..

What? You’re staying in a teepee?
Unfortunately we did not arrive until almost dark and the property was hard to see and we wondered if we were in the right place when we knocked on the door. Brian came out and led us down the path to our teepee, pointing out the facilities along the way. There were bright mobile motion detecting lights at each teepee so we really didn’t need the lights we brought. We hung out by the fire, did some star gazing and then climbed into a comfortable bed with lots of blankets. We slept well. If you don’t mind living without water and electricity, it’s a fun way to spend a night.

The teepees appeared attractive in an open field but the were wrapped with plastic & it got very warm inside with no ventilation. The porta potty was 200 yards away. The shower also far away where you had to pump water from a stream but there was a heater for the water.. The whole property was very buggy with biting flies and very coarse grass. It was very primitive

Overall I think it was great! The teepees are spread apart enough for great privacy and noise. We didn’t get much daytime experience as we checked in, went to a concert, and got up early for the road. I did find a black widow spider about the size of a blueberry crawling around as I went to bed. Be aware that it IS the outdoors and it IS rustic. She probably lived in there and by the looks of her she was doing excellent work in the flying insect control sector! Bathroom (porta potty) and shower (tarped carport) were available but we didn’t use either or see their condition. Bottom line I would gladly come again but I wouldn’t bring my kids.

Cold night in July
We arrived at around 5:30pm on a Saturday and no-one was there so we found our way to the Tepee field through the horse pasture and found our name on the Tepee. We tried to figure out the shower but we couldn't start the pump taking water from the creek. upon leaving the next morning the owner-host mentioned they had all been at a wedding that afternoon. It was a cold night in July and the blankets provided were not enough to keep us warm after 2:00am.
