Family Friendly Modern Farmhouse 42 Private Acres

PRIVATE FARM FOR YOU! 42 acres of woods, prairie and pastures surround a renovated 1880s farmhouse nestled in a private valley outside Elizabeth, IL. Breathtaking views, fishing pond, canoe, hiking trails, fire pits, screened in porch and acres of rolling prairie make for the perfect getaway. Pets welcome (add. fee applies). 20 min. from Galena & 2 hrs from Chicago.

Family friendly, we provide everything for kids of all ages including pack-n-play, height chair, games, activities and more.

Come enjoy our modernized, turn-of-the-century farmhouse with picturesque views from every room. The home comes equipped with all of the modern conveniences including high speed Starlink internet, central heating and cooling, in unit laundry, new appliances/washer/dryer, and newer finishes throughout.

Highlights of the floor plan include: comfortable living room with wood burning stove, sunroom with futon and 55" TV that can be closed off from the living room (perfect for herding children or remote work!), separate dining room with seating for 8, fully stocked kitchen (see more below!), and a large screened in patio adorned with decorative lights for bug free relaxation and outdoor dining. In addition, 3 bedrooms upstairs featuring two with queen beds and one with a twin-over-full bunkbed (all with new mattresses and high quality linens) - plus one bathroom on each floor (full bath upstairs and powder room on main level).

Chef quality cookware, table settings for up to 12, Gaggia espresso coffee machine, spices, kitchen basics, and a Weber propane grill are all at your disposal for home-cooked meals.

HIGH QUALITY TOILET PAPER!! :D

Let your family spend quality time together indoors or outdoors with fire pit, corn hole boards, board games & puzzles, tree swings, fishing equipment, canoe, lifejackets, and more are all available for guests.

Guests will have full access to our home, pond, and land for their own enjoyment, (our closest neighbor is 2 miles away!). The farm is a total of 42 acres with over 3 miles of mowed trails for hiking, biking or X-C skiing depending on the season.

Our 1.5 acre pond is situated just outside our home and stocked with bass, sunfish and bluegill. Canoe, lifejackets, paddles, and fishing equipment are included or bring your own!

Evening activities include experiencing some of the midwest's best sunsets, dinner on the screened in porch, and s'mores to cap off the night! A large fire pit and plenty of firewood is provided for relaxing, s'mores, storytelling, and stargazing just outside of the house.

Prefer to be indoors? Books and board games are at your disposal, as well as our puzzle table (ongoing puzzle for guests to work on!). 55" TV with an array of family friendly DVDs and most major streaming services. Or just sit back, unplug, and enjoy the rocking chair & wood burning stove.

Whether mountain biking or hiking the trails, meandering across the property, fishing, or simply sitting around the campfire listening to the coyotes howl under a blanket of stars, guests will revel in the simple pleasures of life “on the farm”.

Hosts Matt and Amanda are available for communication through the AirBnB app should questions arise during your stay with quick correspondence. Contact-free check in is available and lockbox codes will be provided 24 hours prior to guest arrival.

The Farm is located Between the towns Stockton and Elizabeth within the Massbach ridge, one of the most breathtaking areas of rolling hills in the midwest. The Farm is located 9 miles from either town and only 20 miles from the tourist destinations of Galena.

Year-round activities nearby abound with many state parks, nature preserves, the Mississippi River Valley, skiing at Chestnut mountain, apple picking at local farms, multiple antique markets, a local pool with waterslide one of the midwest's finest vineyards and more!

Over a dozen challenging golf course surround the area with standouts being Woodbine Bend and all 4 Eagle Ridge Courses.

Chestnut Mountain offers year-round fun with downhill and classic mountain biking, an alpine slide, off-road Segway tours and skiing.

Apple River Canyon State Park - a beautiful, serene river winding through cliffs of the driftless area with hiking trails and fishing.

Galena - 20 miles

Rockford - 60 miles

Chicago - 146 miles

The Farm provides ample parking for up cars, trucks and SUVs near the farmhouse and down near the barns. Access is located 2 miles down a gravel road and driveway is steep but manageable with both 2WD and 4WD cars.

During winter months drive can be icy, however we do have snowplow service.

Farm boundaries are clearly marked and guests are required to stay on Endress Farm Property. Any guests (or pets) ranging outside of designated Endress Farm Property will be asked to leave the property immediately without refund.

There are horses on the property and we have someone who comes out 2x a day to feed them. Please be respectful of them, do not allow guests/kids/pets in the pasture, pet them through the fence or bother them when they are eating. By renting the property you and all in your party are acknowledging the Illinois Equine Activity Liability Act and releasing all liability to Endress Road Farm LLC in consideration of the grant of right to use Endress Road Farm LLC grounds.

Due to horses present on the property and fun stuff like trails, canoes, access to fishing, streams, wildlife, wood burning stove, fire pits, etc. our insurance company requires an additional hold harmless agreement to be signed. Each guest will be provided an indemnification/hold harmless agreement via Docusign which outlines the Illinois Equine Activity Liability Act that must be signed prior to arrival.

Due to being situated in a valley, The Farm has VERY limited cell phone signal and all calls from the house REQUIRE Wi-Fi calling to be enabled. Starlink high-speed internet is available and allows for multiple devices to connect, call, stream and Zoom! without buffering. (70MB download / 80MB upload).

Power outages are common in our rural area and Endress Farm is powered by a whole-home backup generator. Please note that during lightning/thunderstorms WiFi can be interrupted for the duration of the storm.

All barns are off-limits to guests during their stay. (There's nothing exciting in them anyways!)

Quiet hours are between 11PM and 8am. Even though our neighbors are not close, loud noise travels down the valley so please be respectful.

No firearms, fireworks, ATVs or other motorized vehicles are allowed on the farm.

There is a RING security camera mounted near the front door, above the garage, front yard and barn areas. These are not actively monitored during guest stays and are solely for security purposes.

PLEASE NOTE: This property is located in a rural setting. It is possible, but not likely, to see raccoons, deer, turkeys, turtles, feral cats, birds of prey, groundhogs, and other wild animals, as well as all kinds of bugs, including, but not limited to, ants, flies, gnats, honey bees, wasp, caterpillars, box elder bugs etc. on the property. These will commonly make their way into the screened in porch and at times, the home, especially during the spring and fall.

Although we have monthly pest control service, you will come in contact with live or dead bugs during your stay. We do our best to prevent this, however it's a fact of life living in the country.

If you or any of your guests are uncomfortable with natural creatures, The Farm may not the right choice for you. You will not be reimbursed for issues involving natural creatures or their byproducts. If you come across any of them, please message us through AirBnB immediately and we will work to rectify the situation.
* $50/night additional fee for all guests over 6 (regardless of age)
* No pets on furniture - any excessive staining, hair or damage to furniture due to pets will be subtracted from security deposit upon check out.
* All dogs/paws MUST be washed in basement shower prior to entering home after enjoying the pond :)
* Please remove shoes/boots upon entering home.
* Attic, locked owner areas and barns are off limits.

Relaxing Piece of Heaven
This was the most relaxing, beautiful VRBO we have ever stayed at. The land was gorgeous, sunrise and sunsets will bring tears to your eyes and refresh your soul. The owners Matt and Amanda make you feel like family and have thought of every single one of your needs, including, but not limited too, the best tp. We can't wait to return!!

A piece of paradise
My family and I usually take a 3 to 4 day mini vacation before the school year starts. We love Galena, IL but couldn't really find a good rental property. Im glad Vrbo recommend this quaint home. If you want peace and quiet with a beautiful home this is your place.

Farmhouse Getaway
We would definitely come back to this farm house! Very peaceful and relaxing. Our host Matt provided us with everything we needed and more, including a detailed list of the property and things to do during our stay. He really made our family feel welcome. The house was decorated nicely and was fully equipped, especially the kitchen. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Hosts and Property for Family Getaway
We had a great stay at the farmhouse property in March. Having visited from a busy area, we were delighted by the quiet and total lack of traffic noise. The walking paths around the property offer beautiful views of rolling hills, and a chance to wander peacefully. Our hosts went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed to know about the property and surrounding area to make the most of our vacation. The layout felt cozy and inviting, and its amenities made for a comfortable stay. The kids watched movies in the front room, everyone had space to read and relax, house provided strong Wi-Fi, and we all enjoyed games around the big table in the dining room. The pond provided a fun option for the kids to canoe and tree swings on the property were a hit. The house is an easy drive from downtown Elizabeth, where we explored antique shops. Lola’s Deli was a highlight for its welcoming vibe and delicious food and Small Town Saloon offered a local bar setting with enjoyable bar-food. We picked up groceries at Sullivan’s in Stockton, and enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, which had all updated appliances. We hope to return for a stay in warm weather, to enjoy the pond and stargazing at night.

Fantastic family getaway!
My husband and I spent a weekend at this beautiful location with our two kids (5 & 2). Matt was incredibly communicative ahead of arrival, outlining all necessary details for our stay including things at the home, how to make our stay easy and comfortable, and activities to do both onsite and in the neighboring towns. The property is stunning and exactly as described. We can't wait to go back, many times over!
