The service was amazing. The bed was comfortable. The food and drinks are really good. The place is really good overall. The only thing that we didn’t like is the guidance when you check in We were not told there’s two hours between breakfast and lunch that you don’t get any food besides A few sandwiches and coffee. I think they should tell you how many restaurants and the hours of operation once to check in. I will suggest to check the weather before you go. We went on a hurricane, so it was raining all day So we didn’t even get the beach or sun. Also, if you planning to go dancing or do something keep in mind that the nearest town is about at least one to two hours away. This place is to men to do outdoor stuff If you want to party, then the best will be at the resort , They don’t have any clubs for dancing, but they’re building one and they should be open next year . The rooms are outdated they look like the 80s. So they don’t look as nice as the pictures showed. A lot of times I didn’t taste any alcohol on my cocktails so if you want to get more for your money, I will suggest to ask for shots. Other than that, there’s not much to do there besides chill drink and eat and they have a band every night playing, but it’s usually local music. (Spanish) My suggestion is to have a DJ with more pop dance music for the guest.

Our stay was average. It was very frustrating to have to show up to the restaurants at 5:30 in order to get a seat. Then some of them would be closed on nights we wanted to attend. The main issue is when we were leaving the resort, there was a tremendous amount of rain to the point the road was washed out. Our transport service advised our driver to turn around and have us wait out the rain at the resort. This was at 11:00AM. We attempted to do this; however, we were not allowed past the front gate. I even explained that we just wanted to wait in the lobby and use the restroom. We were told that we would have to pay an additional night to do this. This was very disheartening since we had already stayed there, had another reservation at a different resort, to attend a work conference. Our safety was at risk and RIU did nothing to accommodate. I don't think we will ever stay at this resort chain again.

I really loved the staff and I did enjoy the resort but there are a few things that need attention. I like that you can go to the other Rio resort as well. I will say the buffet was great for breakfast and lunch but at dinner time it was not so great. The seating was a little unorganized at the buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some people would just be told to sit anywhere and there would be someone sitting there already so it caused some confusion and frustration with some guests. The A La Carte restaurants were not explained properly at the front desk. We were told to go at 530pm to make the line and then we would receive a beeper to come back when a table was ready but that was not the case at all. We needed to go back once they opened and see if they had any tables for the night. The pool bar staff (Calero, Christopher and Richard) were amazing and the drinks were always on point. Pool entertainment was good. Naye always made her way around talking to everyone and I loved that she was so personable. Night shows were pretty good. The room was cleaned everyday but our TV did not work. I called a few times and went to the front desk several times and no one ever came to fix it. The beach was a black sand beach and wasn’t too pretty. The amount of solicitors on the beach was insane! We walked down there once in our 6 day stay and that was enough. I would definitely go back and give it another try.

This is a great all inclusive property for families. We had my 2 and 3 year old grandchildren and there were all kinds of activities (water park) to keep them entertained all day with great childrens shows put on by the entertainment staff every evening.

The view is incredible. The bars, if the open erlier than 10am will be great, and more options open when the restaurants are closed.

Overall 5/5. Staff was friendly and quick to resolve all issues such as restocking my room, arranging transportation, etc. Not only so, but my room was decorated to celebrate my birthday. This place is so all inclusive that there is a 24 hour bar. Everything was wonderful. Toughest part is the pool closes at 6 but that does not ruin your stay. Book and have fun!

The property overall is good. The rooms are in need of a good update. I've stayed at better. Please be aware that the tub is in the actually room. There are no vents in the bathroom so bring some type of air freshener. The restaurant closes at 8pm there time and the specialty restaurant has limited seating so the host will redirect you mostly to the buffet area. That part was really annoying. The pools are great. During October when we went there wasn't that much children, so we enjoyed it. The food options were good. Please know that you can use the sauna and jacuzzi for free, no need for spa services. However you do need to reserve the spot in advance. Went with my husband for a nice getaway. Entertainment was ok. Between 8p-9pm. The lobby bar is the best place for stronger drinks.Overall experience was decent. Not sure if we qould stay here in particular, but decent place. It wouldn't be my first choice next time.
