Great place! Front desk helpful and friendly, convenient to everything. Kitchen amenities is complete however they need to leave instructions how to operate the oven.
Con- steep stairs so not friendly for people with aches and pain on knees and back.

Bed was comfy however on the first night the fire alarm battery went off all night. The light in the hall flickered constantly when turned on.
On the 2nd night the in the lounge had running water coming out of it, which soaked the sofa, floor and table where my laptop was

My-Canning Street is an excellent location for Edinburgh City Centre. It forms part of the West End ‘Village’ with interesting boutiques, pubs and is two minutes from the tram line. Apartment is clean and well-equipped.

The simplest way to describe it is rough around the edges with a horror of an owner. The walls needed a fresh coat (they were very scratched and dirty), The bathroom lock didn’t work, The door to the bedroom didn’t slid shut properly. However all these little things didn’t bother us that much as it was clean and a place to mainly use as a base and to sleep in.
This is where the problem started. The bed. It was two singles zipped together…this isn’t a problem. However they could hardly be described as a mattress as you would get more sleep on a park bench. My wife’s side was lumpy with springs digging into her sides while my mattress HAD COMPLETELY COLLAPSED. My waist was touching the divan base!
Obviously we get no sleep at all….not to mention the soundproofing is none existent. I call the owner at 8:30 on the emergency line. He answers and is abrupt with no apology but said he’ll get it replaced that day. At 4pm we arrived back and it wasn’t replaced so I called again, he said it’ll be done by 6pm sounding more annoyed. At 6:30 nothings done.
After two days with no sleep we couldn’t do another so we had to leave and book a premier inn.
If you are wanting sleep, without hearing 5 other apartments having conversations, arguments and room arrangements at 3-6am. If you want a bed to sleep in that actually functions as a bed and if you want nice owners who treat their customers with respect. DO NOT STAY HERE!
This was the perfect spot for our stay in Edinburgh. Walking distance to restaurants and tourist spots like Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile. Great pubs nearby and easy access to transportation. Communication and cleanliness were great!
Only minor criticisms were limited toilet paper left and the wifi was very slow.

Really good place to stay, quiet but near the centre. Clean and comfy with kitchen, good shower etc. definitely recommend.
Check-in instructions were complicated. Description of flat and # of floors not clearly stated. Stairs immediately upon opening door from street made bringing up luggage/people difficult. Had to find/set up cot in living room for our disabled daughter who could not climb 2nd story to bedrooms. Called Expedia for sheets - they could not reach owner during our stay. No light switches were marked so found floor heating on mistakenly, couldn't turn on under cabinet lighting, and potentially turned off water heater b/c our entire party took luke warm showers without knowing why. Again, no signage. Location wasn't bad - centrally located. No restaurants or grocery closeby that we found.

Great location!
I stayed at canning street apartments for a week (last week). Normally I book a hotel but this was a last minute trip and that was not an option. I was worried about not having the amenities of a hotel but it turned out great. The extra space and having a full kitchen was convenient.
The location was amazing a great spot between old and new town.
Instructions were clear for check in and check out. I didn't need anything during my stay so can't comment on that.
I agree with other reviewers suggestions about coat hooks by the front door, that would be helpful. Also adding extra blankets for the living room would be nice.

It was ok. Didn’t like how you have to go to 1 building n then you find out if your there or the building next door. We had a lot of luggage. Listing didn’t state that there wasn’t a lift. It’s very noisy. You hear EVERYTHING. Stairs to the upstairs is very tight n small. Couch and bed were very uncomfortable and the internet service is horrible.
Very clean and quiet. Easily accessed and safe. Wish there were more outlets in the bedroom but other than that the property was excellent.

Apartment was spacious and two bathrooms was a nice amenity. The unit was well stocked. As others have said the beds and stairs are noisy. Also, property manager was helpful with check-in instructions and other communication prior to arrival but once we arrived we did not have any communication and questions went unanswered.

Poor customer service from the management company. We arrived at the check in time but no keys in the safe. Rang the office but got an answer machine to say no one was available to take call so rang emergency number. We were told someone would get back to us. Received a text to say housekeeping was delayed, no apology or timescale given. I replied that this was not ideal as we were very tired, and were left sitting on the floor outside for (for 20 mins) with all our bags plus food shopping and just wanted to check in. They replied 'being rude makes go no quicker'! Good customer service would have been to acknowledge the delay and anticipate a potential issue by contacting us to let us know, also to apologise that the service we had paid for was not available.
Location is the best thing about the slightly tired apartment, handy location between old and new towns. Very clean. Noisy as single glazed and very thin walls.
Very comfortable bed and overall space. A suggestion would be to ask all guests to be sure outside communal door to street is pulled shut after leaving.

This definitely felt like a place I could live. Love the apartment layout and location. Very clean and comfortable.
The only fault was the bathroom door. It was extremely hard to open and close.
I stayed for 2 nights whilst working in Edinburgh city centre. It was an ideal location and provided everything I needed for my stay. The whole process from beginning to end was seamless and I will definitely be back if I need to book accommodation in the area again.
Spacious apartment with a good location! Our family of 4 stayed 2 nights. Instructions to get in were clear. Our apartment had 2 bedrooms and a bath upstairs and a bathroom, living room, kitchen downstairs. Do be aware that there are fairly steep stairs to climb up to get to the apartment as well as stairs in the apartment. Washer was a big plus though there's no dryer. Area close to the castle yet quiet.
