Lovey historic 2-bedroom apartment with parking, originally the home of James Gillespie and built in 1773. Situated in Colinton Village, a conservation village and childhood home of poet, Robert Louis Stevenson. Our apartment is quietly nestled in a beautiful park on the banks of The Water of Leith. A truly peaceful haven only 20 minutes by bus or car to Edinburgh city centre and 15 minutes from Edinburgh Airport.
The building was originally a 17th century mill building and was incorporated in 1773 into an Adam-style mansion which was the home of snuff manufacturer and philanthropist, James Gillespie. Converted into separate apartments some years ago, our apartment is on the upper ground floor and entered via a dual aspect staircase which faces the park.
There are two generous sized bedrooms, each with a comfortable super-king size bed which can be split into twin beds if necessary. One bedroom also has an additional single stowaway bed. There are wardrobes for storage. The living room has a double aspect window overlooking the park. The kitchen includes electric cooker, fridge, freezer and washing machine. This room can accommodate dining for four and also overlooks the park where you can hear The Water of Leith running close by. There is an internal bathroom with electric shower.
The apartment is perfect for anyone seeking peace, quiet and relaxation whilst being only 20 minutes from the city. There is free parking at the property. Colinton Village has a small selection of shops, pubs and restaurants and is just a few minutes walk away.
