Me and my mum stayed on the ground floor in the room Grosvenor and Belford, the rooms are immaculate and spotless. There is no reception, but we didn’t find this an issue as there is plenty of information about check in and I managed to leave my bag with a local company free of charge. There was a issue overnight with our heating but this was quickly resolved and compensated. Fantastic hotel, would return! Love the choccies and tote bag!

The property was very clean and nicely decorated but our room was extremely small. We knew that going into it but was still shocked at the size of the room and bathroom. We made it work for our visit though. During check in was the only time we saw staff (which was nice!) and they were friendly and very helpful with our luggage and finding out room. The location is also excellent and perfect for walking anywhere you need. Would stay again if we booked a bigger room!

Even better than the photos. Granted we stayed in the Clarendon / Suite so unable to comment on other rooms but would happily recommend this place to all given our overall experience. The design, feel & quality of the place really is a pleasure. The area is pretty and quiet with independent offerings on your doorstep, while still being around the corner from the main shopping streets if wanting to head that way. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was in an excellent location and the check in worked well. The ammenities were good the only problem was the wifi was down and there was no one to contact. Also due to wifi issues we could not use any of our subscriptions services on the tv.

Fantasy city break
On arrival I couldn’t get into my room. The housekeeper was lovely and helpful and upgraded my room. This was my first break as a solo guest so I was very grateful. Entire building is decorated to a very high standard. Bed super comfortable, toiletries smell amazing.

I loved my room it was gorgeous. I also enjoyed feeling like I was at an apartment with cleaning service. I like less staff presence and this fit the bill. My only request would be they add a chain lock to all rooms or a deadbolt. The room passcode is easy to guess based on guest personal information and I was there with others who knew my phone number.

We stayed in the Palmerston room, it was lovely and a very good size but it is up two fairly steep flights of stairs. Found it good that we could replenish coffee pods etc ourselves and you could get ice and an ice bucket. Close to the west end tram stop so very good when getting out and about.

great location, but very noisy inside and outside
Room was clean but very small. Location was good. Was booked for 3 nights, but after the first night had to book another hotel due to the noise within the building from other guests. The walls are very thin, I could hear everything from the room above us (when they walked, talked, sneezed and coughed) this caused a severe lack of sleep, when they used the toilet and shower it sounded like the water was running down into our room. The corridor was very noisy. We stayed in the Belford room which is on the ground floor. If you are staying on the top floor or are a heavy sleeper you may not have the issues we had.

Very nice rooms with large comfortable beds and the location is great, right downtown near the castle, super easy to walk around in a nice neighborhood. The staff was also super helpful anytime I had questions, 10/10 would stay here again if I went back to Edinburgh.
