Staff were all very helpful and friendly. There was a good variety of reasonably priced food on the menu and drinks at the bar. Rooms were clean, the shower and hot water all worked well. Full English breakfast very good.
Handy for visiting Durham, Newcastle, Beamish, Diggerland and Kynren.
Came up to stay on my own as daughter graduating uni. Easy to find and was greeted warmly by staff. Sonia, Ian and Dylan were all so friendly and welcoming.
Food was amazing and lots to chose from in the evening. Breakfast was good and you could pick and chose what you wanted. Locals were friendly and chatty. Would Definitely stay again. The guests that I met were all friendly. Highly recommend, not expensive and good location if you don’t want to stay in Durham and explore surrounding area. Will be back!
Home from home fab food and THEE comfiest bed I've ever slept in. Fantastic owners and staff who really just seem like your parents and siblings .. warm family feel with exceptional options on the menu definitely something for everyone and portions are definitely fit for a king or queen ... Will defo stay again

Nice country pub
Nice, friendly pub in an interesting area with plenty to do. No real ale, which is a shame and means we probably wouldn't stay again. Also, a lot of single use plastic and not up to speed with sustainability.
Had a lovely stay, staff friendly and welcoming, rooms clean. Only down side advertised as having a pool table which was the reasoning for booking as travelled with my 12 year old son. Thought it would be something we could do in the evening instead of just being in our room. Picture showed a pool table and in description but was not one and had not been for a few years.
