Storm Peak Lodge and Ranch at Wildcat Canyon 40 Acres

The Storm Peak Lodge at Wildcat Canyon is located in the remote San Juan National Forrest. This spacious lodge shares with you the hidden splendor this part of the state has to offer! With 360 degree views, this lodge is the perfect escape to kick back, put your feet up, and enjoy one of the decks. There are countless adventures to be had on the 48 acre lot that backs up to the San Juan National Forrest in the Wildcat Canyon. This property operates as a working ranch with a strong herd of mules and horses being on the back side of the lodge. The lot includes rolling hills, woodlands, creek front, riverfront, and trails. It is ideal for any time of the year but peak activities include, ATV-ing, hunting, skiing, sledding, fishing, hiking, weddings, and family reunions. Weddings and events can be held right on the property as we sleep 30+ in the large lodge and based on availability the smaller lodge can be booked and it sleeps 22. The lodge is unique in so many ways but the most prominent difference among other lodges is our solar power. The Lodge operates off of solar panels for an eco-freindly, off grid stay!

Storm Peak Lodge is just 30 miles south of Telluride and Mountain Village where you can ski, golf, shop, and ride the free gondola. Dolores is also 20 miles in the southern direction offering McPhee Resevoir for all of your lake activities. Cortez is located 40 miles south of the lodge and has a wide variety of restaurants as well as offering Mesa Verde National Park, Canyon of the Ancients, Four Corners Monument, and Phil's World renowned biking area. Day trips to charming downtown Durango are also possible at 70 miles away to participate in the Narrow Gauge Railroad, zip lining, museums, shopping, and more!

If you are planning on hosting a wedding or large event at the lodge please reach out to learn about our accommodations and additional wedding/event fees that are based on the size of your party. We have the ability to house over 50 guests when both lodges are rented simultaneously!
During your stay at this lodge, you're just a quick walk from Dolores River. You'll find features like an arcade/game room.

So peaceful!
We absolutely loved our stay here. I had my wedding on June 8, 2024, and it was picture-perfect. During our stay, the new moon allowed us to see the Milky Way just by looking up! The location, nestled between Telluride and Durango, was ideal, offering plenty of opportunities for travel and sightseeing. The family enjoyed the trail on the property. The solar power was unique and added a bit of a challenge to getting ready for the wedding, but we were prepared for that. The WiFi was a bit slow, as expected. Despite a small inconvenience of workers on the nearby house during the wedding evening, the overall ambiance of the location was magical and captivating. We would absolutely stay again! Sara was so wonderful and responsive.

A Dream
This property is absolutely perfect for a getaway with your family. We had a wedding on the property and the background scenery was absolutely beautiful! Even though it was late April and we weren’t sure on weather conditions the snow wasn’t a problem at all. It wasn’t too terribly cold and Mark made sure we had plenty of wood for the fireplace. Mark was great about providing any and everything we needed. I would rebook this house in a heart beat.

Annual Ski Trip with Family
Outstanding time in this huge house. Plenty of seats at the table and kitchen bar to feed all of us but and still be in the same room. Plenty of blankets, pillows, sheets and towels for an Army. 45 min drive to Ski Telluride(Mountain Village). Based on the drive during winter you must get 4 wheel drive and studded tires if they have them. Rent Jeeps from DiffJeeps in Montrose or Telluride, great way to go. DO NOT GO IN 2 WHEEL VEHICLES, too much snow, too much ice for the drive. Mark was always quick to communicate and responsive, appreciate it!

Beautiful house and had all the amenities needed. It was big enough for our family of 12.
We really enjoyed the property. The kids had lots of fun sledding down the hills in the property. Plenty of snow. Chose to stay home one whole day so the kids could have a blast.

Perfect location for a small wedding!
This property is AMAZING! I can't recommend it enough. We wanted to have a small wedding and have a place for all of our friends and family to stay. The cabin fit more than enough people and it was incredibly cozy. Mark is a fantastic host and provided more than we could have asked for. He was so accommodating, attentive, and kind. He went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. The cabin itself is absolutely gorgeous and well taken care of. The kitchen is well stocked and all the appliances work well. Even with 30 people and the cabin being solar-powered, there were never any issues with the electricity or hot water. We couldn't have asked for a better host or a better location for the weekend!

Overall a good experience. Would recommend it!
The house accomodated our family very well. We enjoyed our stay! On the second floor balcony the floor joists were out of the hangers leaving a weak place on the deck. It didn't create a problem for us but it could be a liability issue for the owner. A light above the stairway would be helpful.

Great place for family reunion
Beautiful property, lots of room inside and out for together time and time alone. Three common areas in the lodge to spread out. We did lots of hikes, many on property. Family loved fishing and playing in the stream. Many games provided too. Loved the hummingbirds around the deck!

Beautiful mountain retreat!
Gorgeous mountain views! Plenty of beds and space for our family vacation. Peaceful, quiet, and room to spread out even though there were twenty-one people in our group. Already missing the hummingbirds, chipmunks, sounds of the river, hikes, and star gazing from the deck. We loved our stay and can’t wait to return!

Perfect place for a group trip
Perfect place for a group trip. Plenty of space and supplies for an enjoyable and comfortable trip. House is solar powered, so give your group a heads up if they are using multiple big power pullers simultaneously. We loved the bottom floor for the kids because there is a pool table and lots of space. The kitchen was perfect to prepare and serve big meals. Host was very responsive and helpful.

If you are looking for a place to vacation to - you have found paradise.
The location is about 45 mins from Telluride but the drive to get there is absolutely breath taking. ITS A MUST. Mark is wonderful. He was very communicative, and even let us get in a little earlier due to us arriving early. When we arrived he showed us everything we needed to know about the place and gave us a little tour. The house is pretty much fully stocked with everything you could possibly need during your stay. There was so many nice tables and chairs for how many guests we had and the gas grill was perfect for us to grill out on. Of course the views were unbeatable but, Mark made sure the hummingbird feeders were constantly full and that alone was so fun to watch. To say the least, our time was perfect. Mark, thank you for making our time with family that much more special and for sending the clothes I had of course forgotten during my stay. It was so appreciated. An absolute wonderful house, view, and host.

A fantastic place for a reunion!
We had 14 first cousins for our reunion with lots of room to spread out, everyone had a bed and bathroom. We loved the hummingbirds on the deck and spent many hours watching them! Thanks Mark, for providing the food for the hummingbirds. We cooked most of our meals and had plenty of room for several cooks in the kitchen and we all fit around the table. The area provides lots to do and you still feel like you had a remote mountain vacation in Colorado with perfect weather. A great place to relax indoors and enjoy the outdoors with hiking and exploring.

An incredibly beautiful, secluded and relaxing property! Friends from California had flown in just for this trip. Our group enjoyed the house, the hiking trail right out back. A short drive to Telluride. We’d love to stay here again! Thanks, Mark!
