Take an amazing drive over a remote mountain road to the town and lake at Bala (9 miles), where you can enjoy water sports, boat hire on Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake), and the little steam Railway at Llanuwchlyn. There are a network of paths and bridleways to explore and quiet roads for cyclists. For mountain bikers, the trail centre at the Coed Y Brenin has lovely forest walking trails, a children’s play area, and discovery trails. The family bike trail at Traswsfynydd (9 miles) is also a short drive away. Day trips could be taken to the nearest beach resorts at Porthmadog (20 miles) and the Italianate village at Portmeirion (20 miles).
