Rookery Nook, spacious & pet friendly - wifi, gardens, parking, sleeps 2

ROOKERY NOOK DISS: sleeps 2 in a spacious light and airy south facing single storey property. For a one bedroom property it feels particularly spacious and is Tardis like (so guests tell us). You will see from the photo gallery that the gardens are a big feature and very much enjoyed, and commented on by our guests. The garden and patio are completely private, and guests have their own allocated parking space and private gate and entrance.

Rookery Nook is ideally located for those who wish to explore East Anglia. Providing private entrance, lounge/dining room with patio doors onto patio & garden, fully equipped kitchen, lounge/dining room, double bedroom (king size bed or twin beds) and loo/shower room, driveway parking, garden with built in BBQ.

Situated on the edge of the pretty market town of Diss (15-20 minute walk). Many towns claim to be 'historic market towns', but there has been a market in the centre of Diss, for well over 500 years. The town was established around one of the deepest natural inland lakes in the country, known as Diss Mere and is 6 acres in size. The town centre comprises some excellent examples of Georgian and Edwardian buildings, the Mere and a number of thriving shopping streets, historic and quaint shopping yards. The market operates every Friday on the same day as the auctions of T.W.Gaze (as seen on several BBC antiques TV shows).

For guests seeking food or drinks away from the home, there are many eateries and local inns within a few minutes’ drive as well as a variety of take aways, cafes, shops and three supermarkets (Tesco, Morrison, Aldi) about 1 mile away.

Within driving distance there are plenty of gardens, historic houses, activities, interesting towns & cities, coastal areas, bird watching to visit ….you name it we’ll try and say yes! The location is great with an easy road network to explore the wealth of delights that both Norfolk and Suffolk have to offer. Both have wonderful coastlines with plenty of lovely sandy beaches to explore. Southwold is a traditional seaside town with a pier, lighthouse and glorious promenade of colourful beach huts. Many RSPB reserves and SSSI sites can be found wrapped around the Norfolk and Suffolk Heritage Coastline. The Norfolk Broads National Park offers waterside fun, daily boat hire, river trips and plenty of waterside cafés and restaurants. The Medieval city of Norwich has its castle museum, cathedral, two indoor shopping malls, outdoor market square, galleries, and plenty of restaurants nearby.

BRINGING DOGS: We welcome guests with well trained dogs, but we are not a pet hotel! Please advise us in advance if you are bringing a pet, and be sure to read our pet policy on our website holidaycottagediss.com so that you bring with you the items you need. With regards the garden, it is designed for the enjoyment of all, it is not a dog run! It has waist high picket fence on two sides, and a 5ft hedge on the third. However we can’t guarantee your dog won’t get out - for instance a very determined Jack Russell might wheedle it’s way through the hedge, or a large Alsatian who spots a cat might jump the fence! Should you decide to let your dogs off the lead in the garden the responsibility for their safety is yours. We advise you study the photos well in advance and read the reviews to make your own decision. However be assured we’ve welcomed guests with dogs for many years and many return, and we hope that you too will enjoy your time here with your dog.

Electric vehicles: please note that we do NOT have facilities for charging electric vehicles. There are local charging points in town.
During your stay at this vacation home, you'll be within walking distance of Frenze Beck Nature Reserve. A washer is available in the vacation home.
  • The vacation home offers a washing machine, a dining table, and a shower
  • 13 minutes by foot from Frenze Beck Nature Reserve and a 2-minute drive from Diss Library

Fabulous! Lovely cottage and the owners are lovely. The cottage is a short walk from Diss as well. Little touches such as biscuits, milk and bread on arrival was nice. Nothing bad at all and worth the money.

Magical
I decided to treat myself to a little trip away for my Birthday, and Rookery Nook Cottage did not disappoint! I was greeted by Carol on arrival who showed me around and then left me to it. The cottage is delightful, with lots of lovely personal touches, I was even treated to some lovely biscuits. The garden is stunning, clearly lots of love goes into keeping it that way. The fencing was the ideal height for my Boston Terrier, Frank. If you have a large dog then you will want to keep an eye on them. If you do go with a dog then i recommend taking some blankets to put over the sofas, I took two and that was enough. There was some lovely routes for walks and Diss town isn't far at all, 5 mins in the car or 25mins by foot. There is plenty to do in and around Diss, so you won't be bored. I will definitely be going back for another stay Thank you so much Carol & Phil

Very comfortable, supermarkets close by, great for the dog as it has a closed garden.
Found the property easy to find. The cottage was very cosy and well stocked. I loved the BBQ and enjoyed a steak meal. The garden was perfect for the dog as it was safe for the dog to roam without getting out. It's a short walk to Diss and Greyhound pub was very welcoming with good real ale and a bowl of water for the dog. Would highly recommend this lovely cottage.

Lovely little cottage
I stayed for 4 nights with my puppies. We had a lovely stay, everything we needed was here. A very relaxing stay. The owner allowed me a late book out when she heard my journey home was affected by very bad traffic congestion, which was very welcome considering I was travelling with my 3 puppies. Would definitely recommend. Thank you

Absolutely wonderful!
The property itself was lovely, very homely and comfortable. The kitchen had everthing we needed. We enjoyed the board games available too! We brought our little dog with us and the garden was just right for her, although, as mentioned very well in the description of the property, a big dog would need to be kept an eye on. However, very dog friendly garden and property. Property location was perfect for us. It was far out enough from the main town of Diss to feel secluded, yet close enough, that if we needed anything it was only a 5 min drive/15min walk into the town. We visited many places, we went to Norwich, Norfolk Boards, Great Yarmouth and Thetford Forest, with a travel time between 30mins to 50mins, so a great location to see loads of things but without having to spend all day travelling nack and forth. Throughly enjoyed our stay here which was credit to this wonderful property and look forward to coming back to explore this beautiful region again.

We stayed for 1 week for our annual autumn break. We were warmly greeted by our host. Upon entering the property found it to be very comfortable and homely. It had every amenity we could have wanted. The greeting pack of tea, coffee, sugar, milk & chocolate biscuits was gratefully received. Would we recommend or stay again - yes we would!
