DO NOT STAY HERE
The pictures the host posted of the property are deceiving. This rental is not “charming”, it’s very very old & not well-cared of; the stairs to the property in the back (which is the way you are instructed to enter) are treacherous. There isn’t lighting outside to maneuver the stairs and I’m sure they aren’t up to code. You’re met with a hanging chain that hits you in the head upon opening the back entry way door. The main floor toilet had been used and was not clean. There were bugs throughout the property. This rental is a duplex, but the walls between the units are paper thin; we could hear the entire conversations from the neighbors next door. The stairs to the higher floors were damaged, with the carpet runner detached from the stairs causing you to slip immediately. We contacted the host who could have cared less about the experience. Only offering to have the cleaners clean the toilet (after asking for a proof-picture first). Don’t be fooled by the listing and find somewhere else to stay in Des Moines.
