Goosedown Lodge is a luxurious, one-bedroom retreat overlooking the fishing lakes at Ponsford Ponds on the fringe of the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is the ultimate glamping experience with a shower room, bedroom and a spacious open-plan living space, plus there is also a hot tub for private use. The living area has a two-seater sofa, Smart TV, electric fire and a wood burner which makes the property super cosy in the winter. Outside, guests will enjoy private use of their own decked area overlooking the lake with a 4-seater hot tub and a set of table and chairs. The bedroom has a comfortable super kingsize bed which can be setup with twin beds if requested.
Ponsford Ponds offers private fishing at no additional cost, with a ¾-acre pond filled with mirror and common carp up to 10lbs, various silver fish, bream, roach, rudd and perch. An additional specimen pond is available with carp up to 20lb, and is 220 yards away.
The M5 motorway is just a 10-minute drive from the accommodation, the town of Cullompton is a 5-minute drive and the cathedral city of Exeter is 20 minutes. The award-winning North Devon coastline is within an hour’s drive with its golden sandy surfing beaches, and the fascinating Jurassic South Devon coastal beauty spots are within a 30-minute drive. The National Parks of Exmoor and Dartmoor are both within an easy 50-minute drive, showcasing rolling wild green moorlands where you will find breathtaking scenery.
Cullompton is a traditional market town which has a wide range of independent shops, cafés and public houses. Coldharbour Woollen Mill can be found just outside of the town centre, as can the National Trust properties of Killerton and Knightshayes. Other tourist attractions include Diggerland, The Bear Trail and Quad World. The Grand Western Canal, with its famous horse drawn narrowboats and family boat hire, is just 3 miles away, and Tiverton Castle, Bickleigh Mill and the Fisherman’s Cot pub and bridge (said to be the inspiration for ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’) are all within a 15-minute drive.
