About this property
Mimosa Hill @ Wanderlust Woods
Time to slow down, reconnect, restore and explore. Welcome to Mimosa Hill - a charming lotus bell tent nestled in Wanderlust Woods. Enjoy a romantic getaway, peaceful retreat or wanderlust fulfillment. This hidden 10 acre property hosts a flowing creek, mountain views, & plenty of space to wander yet minutes from rafting & fishing on the Pigeon river or hiking in the National Park and 25 min to Gatlinburg. Perfect for all seeking the glory of the mountains in a unique & immersive setting.
If you need anything, cohost Jamey is just a phone call away (check out 4000+ 5-star reviews). We are more than happy to answer questions or offer help if you need it. Just message or call and we'll either send someone by or handle any concerns personally.
Wanderlust Woods is located in Cocke County Tennessee near the towns of Cosby and Hartford, 10 minutes from the Interstate and is situated very near the boundary of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The natural beauty of the area is unparalleled with views of the Smokies at almost every turn. Hiking, fishing, kayaking, white water rafting, and ziplining are all within a 10 mile radius of the property. Gatlinburg, TN is a 25 minute drive and Asheville, NC is just over an hour, offering guests options for fun day trips in the area.
You’re welcome to explore our 10 acres of property including 900 ft of creek frontage, a hiking trail to the ridge, and mountain views. We ask that you do not enter any other units. No one else has access to your tent (padlocks provided) or your private bathhouse.
This charming canvas haven sleeps three with a restful King memory foam bed and airbed plus electric heated blankets and fan for comfort all 3 seasons it’s available (choose one of our other places in the winter). A private bathroom right outside your backdoor with a hot shower, sink and flush toilet allows for complete comfort with a wild side.

You’ll soon forget that you’re supposed to be “roughing it.” Enjoy gazing up at the stars at night and taking in the views from right outside the tent and enjoy your personal fire pit or our little waterfall steps away.
Minutes from rafting & kayaking on the Pigeon river or hiking in the National Park with short or longer trails to see waterfalls, bridges over streams, majestic mountain views, and wildlife. Skip the traffic by going the back way to Gatlinburg or take a day trip to Asheville while in the area. Nearby mountain towns of Cosby & Newport offer groceries, restaurants, and unique shops for the perfect souvenir.
No A/C? No problem. Last summer wasvery comfortable with temperatures in the 50s & 60s in the evening and 70s & 80s during the day. This increases slightly in July/August. It helps that our property is very shady and located in a valley. Many of our guests only need to use the fan in the heat of the afternoon. But if you must have air conditioning—we get it! Our Airstreams & Geodomes on site do and we would love for you to check them out by clicking on our Wanderlust Woods host page to see all that’s available :-)
Our address is 910 Windy Hill Way, Cosby, TN 37722 but we have found GPS falls short as you get close. There are many possible routes to get to Wanderlust Woods, some of which are one-lane roads that we do not recommend.
We suggest that from I-40 you take exit 447 onto Hartford Rd. When coming from I-40 East (from Knoxville), take a right. If coming from I-40 W (from Asheville), turn left on Big Creek Road at the end of the exit ramp. Go under I-40 and turn right onto Hartford Road at the dead end (BP station will be on your left).
In 2.1 miles turn left on to Lyndsey Gap Road. In 1.3 miles turn left on to Ground Hog Road. In just over a mile you will dead end at SR-32. Turn left. Go approximately 600ft and make another left turn on Trail Hollow Road (there is a sign for Chestnut Baptist Church on this corner).
Follow Trail Hollow Road for about 1 mile and turn left onto Phillips Road. (Be mindful that Trail Hollow Road makes a sharp, 90 degree left turn, about half way to Phillips Road.) Once you turn onto Phillips Road you will pass a house on your right. Take the first right onto Windy Hill Way. This is our road. You will go all the way to the end and Wanderlust Woods is just over the bridge.
You will also want to take a look at the Guide with your check-in instructions for how to access your glamping spot (after filling out the pre-arrival form)
We don’t have great cell reception at the property, so make sure you screenshot the directions and check in instructions ahead of time or log into our Wi-Fi when you get to the bridge. You can set up Wi-Fi calling on your phones in order to stay in touch with family and friends while you’re glamping.
We will offer directions that avoid the worst roads but you will encounter gravel and a few ruts coming into the property. Any vehicle can make it fine when taking it slow but a larger vehicle with higher clearance is preferred. Only in winter when there is snow and ice is 4wd required.
We provide coffee, creamer, sugar, snacks, plus all the bedding, towels, soap, TP, etc that you’ll need for your stay.
We share the forest with wildlife including insects, spiders, snakes, black bears, and others. We take precautions to keep your glamping spot as pest-free as possible but in rare situations you still may find some forest friends inside.
We’ve found the bears in the area to be skittish and don’t desire human contact.
The Cosby entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is 3 mi in one direction, rafting on the Pigeon River is 3 mi in another direction, and we can show you some beautiful fishing spots for bass & trout less than 3 miles from our place.
The following does NOT apply to reservations made on Airbnb (who has their own vetting & resolution process). For all other booking platforms, guests are required to complete our pre-arrival process including a photo of a valid ID, signing our rental conditions, and submitting a valid credit or debit card to be pre-approved for a security deposit (card will not be charged just authorized in case of damage or rule violation). This process needs to be completed before check-in.
