Rustic 3BR Home with Hot Tub, Peak View near Cripple Creek

Summary:
This modern yet rustic mountain home is tucked out of the way in a dense forest, with sweeping views of of the forest and the back side of Pikes Peak. You won't believe how peaceful it is! Yes, there is good WiFi! You're just a few miles up Hwy 67 to Cripple Creek with small shops, restaurants, and some of Colorado's only casinos! **While the road is plowed, during winter months we do recommend 4WD for the large snow amounts Colorado mountains get each year.

We affectionately call this spot "Park Ridge Lodge" as a fun nod to the original Park Ridge mining claim it sits on. They may not have struck gold, but we think you'll agree this spot is pure gold. :) We were recently featured by Pic2Click as Park Ridge Lodge, complete with a virtual tour and video!

This impressive, completely remodeled modular is 1200 sqft all on one level, with a large family room and kitchen area so you can spread out. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. You'll have 1 king bed, 1 queen bed, and 1 twin bunk bed, plus a sleeper sofa.

The Space:
Layout:
- All one level, bright and airy
- The master with ensuite on one side, 2 bedrooms on the other side
- Open kitchen/dining/sitting area

Bedrooms:
- Master has a king bed and it's own bathroom
- On the other side of the home is "the kids room" with a twin bunk bed
- Next to that is an additional queen bedroom

Entertainment: highspeed internet, and a Roku for Netflix, Hulu, etc.

Guest Access:
You'll have full access to the entire modular, including the surrounding forest. There is lots of Bureau of Land Management (Colorado public) land around here as well! There's plenty of room for parking, just make sure not to block the road.

The Neighborhood:
You'll be just 0.8 miles off Highway 67, and under 4 miles (7 minutes) to Cripple Creek. You'll drive through a county area that is an eclectic mix of million-dollar mansions and old shacks on your way to the cabin. The 0.8 mile drive off the highway is on a maintained dirt road (and plowed in the winter). You'll turn right after a trucking yard, pass a few houses, and come to this cabin near the end of the road.

Getting Around:
If you're looking to walk around, hike, or bring your bike/ATV/etc. there's plenty of room around here. If you're looking for food or shopping or gambling at the casino, Cripple Creek is just 7 minute drive away, and you can get to Divide in 25 minutes. Colorado Springs is 1 hour away. If you're wanting to hit the slopes, Breckenridge and Monarch are both about 2 hours away. **4WD recommended for winter months.

Other Things to Note:
AT&T and T-Mobile users do not get good signal here. Verizon and Sprint seem to be good (LTE). We do have fast wifi to help you stay connected, and you can use wifi calling.

We require ID verification, terms accepted, and security deposit for all reservations.

Interaction with Guests:
This is a remote area and we will not be onsite. If you have trouble we can be reached via messenger and can make recommendations on who to call in case of emergency. We do have exterior cameras for monitoring to ensure rules are followed and for safety.
During your stay at this chalet, you'll be close to Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine.
  • Just a 4-minute drive from Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine and 6 minutes from Golden Nugget Cripple Creek Casino
This chalet offers its guests a garden. The front desk is open around the clock.

This Cripple Creek chalet is smoke free.

Don't stay here, my experience was dreadful
First, GPS will not lead you to the property. I had to ask somebody for help finding it. Most importantly, when I arrived the water was very brown at first, and then quit flowing altogether within a minute, ultimately it was totally dry. After numerous phone calls to the manager and VRBO I had no assurances of any resolution to the problem, and no water for any purposes at all. After 3 hours I left , refusing to stay in an uninhabitable place, with no idea if or when the water would be flowing again, and not knowing if it would be safe to use if it returned. They have refused to refund my money, stating that the water was returned to service in 12 to 14 hours. That would have been about 7 am the next morning. They also claimed that I was told it was working. I was not told of this. I was long gone by then anyway. Can you imagine not having water to flush the toilet or even wash your hands in a place you paid to be vacationing in overnight? VRBO has been no help in returning my money. I will not be using VRBO ever again. They should be protecting the customer. If you read this and decide to rent this place anyway, good luck to you. I wish you well. It smelled faintly of sewage in the master bath. The hot tub water looked very cloudy. The washing machine was half full of brown water. The place did look clean, but it's really only an older mobile home, nothing special.

Whatever you do - do NOT STAY HERE
I guess we can start with the fact they advertise that the home has air conditioning and it does not. We turned down many rentals because they clearly stated that they did not have AC. When we arrived at this dump it was 77 degrees inside. Tried to turn the ac on - it wouldn’t turn on- went to the book of all the rules and it says that it doesn’t have it and the “cool mountain air” keeps the unit cool. Upon arrival it started pouring rain and water was going to start coming in the windows if they were open. So we didn’t do that. Upon taking our stuff I thought I was going to fall through the floor of the master bedroom. There was an entire board missing on the deck that was being covered up with a snow shovel. My husband almost fell through the crappy plywood they have on the deck making it “handicapped accessible “. Now, let’s talk about the location. You literally go through a junkyard to get there. Numerous abandoned houses so the fact they expect you to sleep with your windows open is hilarious. Now for the host. I knew there was something wrong with the listing as soon as I asked for them to call me immediately and they just listened to my voicemail and thought a message was sufficient. I then called and left another voicemail and still have not received a call back. They tried to tell me that the listing didn’t advertise air conditioning and that it was my fault for not seeing that. Then, backtracked and said sorry.Vrbo has confirmed all of this and still won’t refund

Beautiful peaceful location
Cute and spacious house. Beautiful but a little hard to find location especially in the dark. I would suggest to not take a motorcycle down these roads. This was the only down fall. Other than that it was great. I would stay again but take a car next time ;).

good place
I had a good but short stay at this place. The price was fair and the amenities were nice. I especially enjoyed the hot tub and the view. The place had plates and utensils, so we could cook our own food. The service was friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

Just a great place to rest and refuel. Not far from the casinos if you need some noise. The house has plenty of sleeping options( 6 comfortably). No yard would be a downside but there is a small hot tub to get some more rest and relaxation in. I would definitely use again if needed.

Strong Spring snow storm hit quickly just before check-in depositing nearly 1 foot in approx 30 minutes. My front wheel drive vehicle could not make it up a steep paved road leading to the dirt road access to the property. The property description says 4 wheel drive vehicle recommended, so they had no sympathy that I could not make it and didn't use the property at all.

We had a great time!
My husband and our 3 kids ages 8.10 and 15 had a wonderful time here! The modular was well equipped for all of us, felt just like a cabin. The hot tub was perfect, views and surroundings were gorgeous. The hot water was just fine (per other reviews, we had no issues, just keep the dial in the middle!) Ryan and Jaime were great with communication and the process was so easy! We will definitely be back!

Loved this cozy gem tucked in a mountain, it was the perfect getaway for my bday weekend! Clean, equipped w everything we needed, great helpful host even had binder of information prepared to answer any questions we may have had. (It came in handy) We were out most of our time there but going back was perfect for winding down from the long days of exploring/ adventure. There is much to do nearby. Definitely a place to rebook in future!

Nice house with some minor issues
The house itself is really nice with a hot tub outside of it. It is quite clean and pleasant inside. But there were some issues that we encountered during our six days stay here. The toilet was clogged for a short while and we had to unclog it. There was an issue with the hot tub. We came to the property with the hot tub on and the lid half open. So after using it, we left it that way. Then a couple days later, the heater apparently overheated and the water froze. We were told to not change the temperature in the hot tub and there was no instruction about whether or not to close the lid on the guidebook. Perhaps that should be mentioned in the guidebook and whether or not we should turn off the hot tub after use. Also, the room with the bunk bed seemed to be next to some sort of heat source like a heating pipe installed in the house and it was really hot sleeping in there. It was abnormally more hot than other rooms which were more pleasant in the house temperature wise. All in all, it was an okay stay with some quirks around the house. Beautiful location if you want to stay mostly inside the house as it is 2 hours away from Denver.
