I have mixed emotions for the Granbell. I had booked a Deluxe Double Room, Sea View so we could watch the sun set from the balcony or soaking in the bath for our last evening in Sri Lanka. Arrived at 4.30 & apparently there was ‘fault’ with our room so we were put in a ‘temporary’ room. Which to be fair was very nice and if that was the room I had booked I would have been happy with it. I was told it wouldn’t take long for our proper room to be available & I would get a what’s app message advising me (no what’s app message was received). We waited patiently for 2 hours, watched the sunset through a dirty window (not the romantic dream I have wished and paid for). I chased reception several times. Sometimes hung up on and sometimes put on hold indefinitely. I remained polite throughout. Eventually someone came & took our bags to our new room 2002. The room was excellent and my review would have been completely different if the mess up
in reception hadn’t occurred. We ended up getting room service as we were shattered from traveling all day and the time we were given our room meant our evening plans had to be changed. Nevertheless the room service food arrived and was still hot and tasty (just as a heads up they ask for payment when they deliver the food, I wasn’t given an option to pay at check out which was fine by me). The bed was very comfortable & We both slept well. I did request a gel pillow but it didn’t arrive (no surprise there as the request went via reception)!
