The Stagecoach Cabin is nestled in the oak brush at the corner of our 42-acre property and was an original building from a stagecoach stop in western Colorado (hence the name). We invite you to relax and recharge in the antique and western charm of the late 1800s. The 12' x 12' cabin accommodates up to 3 adults (or 2 adults and a couple of kids).
The Stagecoach Cabin offers a break from the modern world. The cabin does not have running water, electricity, wi-fi, or television. But it does have a propane wall heater, solar lights, and a solar-powered charging station for your electronics. The outside kitchen is fully stocked with cooking utensils and dishes, a propane stove top, mini fridge, and plenty of water in jugs. The outdoor bathroom facility includes a waterless toilet and a solar outdoor showering system. Best of all, the cabin site has lots of antique charm and mountain stillness.
The cabin offers a queen-size bed, a twin air mattress (for use on the floor), and a small table and chairs. Under the covered porch, you'll find the kitchen and dining area and a chest of games. We also provide a propane fire pit on the south side of the cabin.
Many guests get cell service and a data connection to receive a call or send a message (we get 5G on T-mobile), but, for the most part, modern technology won't distract you during this peaceful nature retreat. However, if you really feel the need, high speed internet (and coffee and continental breakfast) is available at the Sunroom, which is a short walk or drive away.
At the Sunroom, the enclosed porch on the front of our house, we offer coffee and continental breakfast (ie. fruit, oatmeal, muffins), an assortment of cold drinks and water, and high-speed wi-fi. It's all self-serve and available anytime during daylight hours.
If you are lucky, you’ll get to listen to the coyotes singing on the hills or the elk bugle across the draw. In the morning, watch for deer crossing on the hillside, or step across the road to view the elk and buffalo on the game ranch.
We welcome a house trained and well behaved pet (maximum 1) who likes to sleep in their own bed on the floor and gets along well with other dogs. We provide pet bowls and sheets; please bring your own pet bed, food, and other supplies.
Please bring with you a pair of shower shoes if you'd like to try the outdoor shower. We do have mosquitos. We've provided some bug spray, but you might bring your own if you prefer a specific brand.
During the summer, you can access the cabin site in a 2-wheel drive car, but the gravel road can be bumpy or muddy (check out the road video by scanning the QR code in the photos). We recommend driving a vehicle with 4-wheel drive in late fall to early spring as the weather can be unpredictable. If you aren't sure, please ask us about the current conditions of the road.
We will send you a reservation confirmation message shortly after you book your stay, and we will send you directions to the Stagecoach Cabin either the day before or the day of your arrival. If you make your reservation through Expedia, please check your VRBO account and/or email for our messages. Sometimes these messages go to your junk mail, so please check your spam folder too if you haven't heard from us!
