The Sophy is a classy, stylish hotel in a great neighbourhood close to the University of Chicago. The walls are covered in great art (including a large painting of President Obama in the elevator lobby), the beds are vast and comfortable, the bathrooms are fancy and the breakfast was delicious. The Sophy is a beautiful property, well maintained with great atmosphere and ambience. Great and friendly staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back! Food at the Messler was also amazing!

Great place to stay and close to UChicago. The staff were extremely friendly, the place was very clean, and our room was awesome. We ate at the restaurant for brunch and had a good meal both times. Quick Uber to/from Midway.

The stay was ruined by the person at the check in post the morning we checked out. Was sleeping on one of the couches( it was 5:15 am) and got visibly annoyed that she had to get up to check us out. Did not greet me or speak and just glared at me during the whole transaction. No Good morning or any sign of good will much less common courtesy and manners. I asked for a print out of my bill and just shoved it at me. Disappointed since everyone else at the hotel was lovely and made us feel welcomed.

I recently stayed at the Sophy Hotel and had a wonderful experience overall. The boutique atmosphere was charming and the hotel was impeccably clean. The staff were friendly and accommodating, making my stay even more enjoyable. While the parking was a bit farther than expected, it wasn’t a significant issue for me. I did encounter a hiccup during check-in when I was charged an additional $800 despite at the hotel event though my booking through Expedia. This was a simple mistake by the hotel. Thankfully, the hotel staff apologized for the mistake and promptly processed my refund even though it took a week to receive. Going forward I’d make sure I communicate that my booking was previously paid for. Despite this minor setback, my time at the Sophy Hotel was very pleasant, and its convenient location near downtown made exploring the area easy. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a cozy and welcoming place to stay!
