While the hotel is in a convenient area with lots within walking distance, and the facilities are also nice in appearance, I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of our room. There was a dead cockroach that had been there so long its legs had fallen off. The sheets were not clean, the walls had smudges and marks all over them. It’s as if they hadn’t cleaned the room in months and forgot to do anything after the last person checked out (other than make the bed). There was also no toilet paper in our room and the air conditioning barely functioned. It never got cold. Overall rather unpleasant and this place could easily have made our stay a pleasant one with just a tiny bit of effort on their part.
Looks nothing like photos. There is no restaurant, bar or cafe on the premises as stated in the ad. Poor water pressure in the shower. Outrageous price for what you get.
Property looks much nicer in n photos than it actually is. My husband wants me to say that is front desk guy was nice. Everyone in the entire town is nice including the street dogs. What ever they show about Starbucks coffee or restaurant at the facility is not true. When we visited the restaurant was never open. Neither was the coffee shop. Little to no water pressure. The best part about the entire stay is that there is a butcher shop next door that slaughterers pigs every day between 3-4 am. Lovely sound to wake up too.
So all and all I wouldn’t recommend you stay here.
But the people are nice though 😒

The hotel was a bit overpriced but, not bad. I didn't have hot water the first night. Since it seemed that I was the only guest there, I think they forgot to turn on the hot water heater when I arrived.
I used the a/c on dry mode but, unlike other units I've encountered, I could not set the desired temperature. Dry mode is so much nicer in humid areas than air conditioner mode. Plus, it saves a lot of electricity.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Amenities
The actual rooms are pretty typical but because of the straw roofs, the noise insulation wasn't the best, and because the hotel is on the busiest street in town, you will hear cars and people until late at night. So this place is only good if you have a room that is on the lower floor further inside the property away from the street. We got a deal so the price was almost worth it. The "included" continental breakfast was also very extremely subpar. The WiFi didn't work in our room either.

Location was perfect for us. Just parked the car and walked where we needed to go. Grocery store close. Breakfast good and cheap.
We were kept awake all night by neighbours barking dogs, then we moved rooms and had no wifi, roof was very old and had holes, rooftop patio needed to be swept or washed (full of dead leaves). Breakfast included but was very basic- skipped it in day two and went to a nearby restaurant. Staff were nice.
I don’t know how this hotel has any good reviews. We booked it on the same day, when we arrived he seemed surprised to see us. He said he didn’t have any rooms and then told us he had 1 room available but he didn’t recommend it bc it was right on the street and it would be very loud. We asked him if he would cancel our reservation for us and he said because we hadn’t paid yet that he would just inform Expedia that we didn’t show up and then we wouldn’t be charged. Well I was charged for it. $140 (which is extremely overpriced) for a room we didn’t even stay in.

The location is good. The photos of the property and the palapa room did not represent the true condition. The hotel is run down. The sheets, towels, palapa roof and facilities are too worn for the cost. It was livable but I could have found a better value for the cost.
We loved this hotel. Very new and clean. Room was cute, with lots of space. The breakfast area was in the middle of a Hacienda style layout and the breakfast was plenty of fruit, bread and eggs. Upstairs deck had a sitting area. Location was right in the middle of the town, and we walked everywhere from there. Quick walk to water front. We will stay again. A little gem in Bacalar.
Very nice facilities. The street is not the quietest, but the hotel was very nice. Quaint and cute with a very central location. I would recommend it, but it seemed a little expensive. Still, worthwhile.
