I booked 3 double Queen bed rooms at The Ivey approximately two months before our arrival date, traveling to Charlotte for the first time to celebrate our nephew’s UNCC graduation. I chose to book at the Ivey because the restaurant/lounge had good reviews. The day before our arrival I received a phone call from the hotel informing me that both the restaurant and the lounge were closed to guests, booked out for both nights of our stay. I recognize that this is ideal for The Ivey but it left our party without a place to gather for a cocktail or a nightcap, which negatively impacted our time in Charlotte, NC.

A 5 star hotel should not have a common hallway with a mexican food store… All the cooking and smells were at the entrance . This was unheard of. It’s a shame everything else was perfect.

Instagram friendly, yes, but ultimately a 3 dressed up as a 9. Low quality kitschy everything, below average service, no amenities, next to loud nightclubs (thin windows). Overall about 2x over-priced. Not the worst hotel by any stretch but *terrible* value for your dollar.

The property is absolutely flawless. The aesthetic of the hotel is beautiful. I am so happy that I choice this property. Justice was so kind, thorough, and accommodating. The lounge was gorg! Jordan was so kind. I look forward to my next stay.

The property is in a good location close to the Spectrum Center and restaurants. Some of the staff is upbeat, others just mediocre. The two things we didn’t like were the elevator was broken and we had to get our own car from the garage. This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel and there was zero attempt by the staff member to have someone get our car. We were told where the garage was and had to spend over 10 minutes getting it out, so basically we paid for valet parking and we were the valet. The cocktails at Sophia’s weren’t great but the bartender was nice. Ordering room service adds outrageous fees so beware. Nice hotel, probably wouldn’t stay there again.

The property itself was gorgeous. The Valet and evening shift front desk staff was unprofessional and rude. The menu at the restaurant was limited and not allergy friendly. The manager Josh and day shift front desk personnel was helpful. One event that occured we was stuck in an elevator. The help button was pushed and no one came to help or follow up. After several attempts to reach by phone finally spoke to the front desk that night and still no one came. After hitting the open door button and pushing the door it opened. (7-15 min) after calling staff. The manager Josh listened and addressed the elevator issue but the overall concerns of the Valet and evening shift staff was ignored. It is a beautiful hotel just customer service made my stay less enjoyable.
