Staff was excellent! Sylvia in the dining room was exceptional! As was Christina. The room was excellent. The front staff were friendly and so helpful. A delightful experience! We loved the location as well.

Great stay! The room was nice. It’s such a historic, beautiful hotel. Very nice having Starbucks downstairs. Easy to walk anywhere downtown! Will definitely be back! Parking was a little expensive, so we found city parking a few blocks from hotel for much cheaper.

Our stay at the Francis Marion started with a small hiccup but was easily rectified by the manager, Mr. Parker. He made our stay to celebrate our 20th anniversary more special. The rest of the staff throughout the hotel could not have been nicer. We will be back!

Location is great, can walk to shopping, dining, and ports. Starbucks is in the same building which is a plus. The building is old, and you can definitely tell in the rooms (weird piping in the bathroom, difficult to get the right temp in the shower, odd room layouts, older looking carpet, furniture, doorknobs, etc. the main room door had a modern lock though, so that made me feel safer (I’ve been to hotels that did not). But it seemed decently clean, the windows could be cracked to let in a breeze, and the bed was decently comfortable. Not a bad place to stay, especially for the location.

This hotel is old, very old. The rooms are not at all as it's pictured. They are dark and dingy. We booked a double bed rooms but had only one set of towels. The staff is border line rude. When we arrived, the lady was in the back room, talking on the phone and didn't even acknowledged that we had been waiting for a while to check in. The bar tender at the restaurant was even ruder, to the point that we cancelled our dinner reservations with them. Why would we want to reward such unprofessional establishment. The location was great. The doormen were really nice but other than that I have nothing good to say about this place. I can't believe the high reviews some people leave for this hotel. For the price, definitely, not worth it.

Photos looked good but!
Not so good. We went for our anniversary. Started with pulling up and going inside To valet but getting ignored by the staff. I grabbed my own cart loaded My own bags and parked my car. My room was in need of care. Wet carpet, rundown looking, shower had the lightest water pressure of any hotel I ever stayed at. Lastly the staff told me my dinner reservation was at a place that was within walking distance and it was actually about five miles in each direction. Not a future destination for us.

The Francis Marion was surely a property of note a hundred years ago. Today it is a bit tired. Everyone we interacted with was super nice and helpful-- from the valet to the desk to housekeeping and even the manager. Great service. The building itself is in need of an update. Comparing pricing in Charleston, however, it is still a solid value because this town is expensive!
