This charming, pet friendly, detached, family farmhouse is situated on a private estate and working farm, and boasts stunning countryside views.. Situated on the 6000-acre Lincluden Estate, these three detached properties are presented to the highest standards. They are located in remote settings on the edge of the moors with delightful woodland walks and hillside trails up into forests. It is an area hugely popular with walkers and cyclists of all abilities, and the Dalbeattie 7 Stanes cycling trail is also close by. There are many sandy beaches and forest trails to explore and many lovely gardens nearby as well for those seeking a slower pace of recreation.
The surrounding area offers a tremendous range of activities for the visitor. Golf courses, sailing, horse riding, cycling and walking are all available close by, and there are tennis courts and swimming-pools in nearby Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas and Dumfries. Fishing is available by arrangement at Glen Kiln Loch with the first day free of charge (any days after are chargeable at £8 per adult and £4 per child/OAP). Many quaint villages await exploration including the coastal villages of the Isle of Whithorn, Port William (known as the Machars of Galloway and presented with the Pride of Galloway award) and the popular village of Portpatrick with stunning views over the North Channel to the Irish coast. A trip to Ireland from Stranraer also makes for a good day out. Dumfries, with shops, restaurants, museums and theatre, lies 10 miles away, while Castle Douglas, Scotland’s Food Town (8 miles), is a traditional market town with shops specialising in local produce. Lochenkit Farmhouse
The farmhouse is wonderful and beautifully furnished. The Aga ensured the kitchen area was always warm. The surrounding countryside was very peaceful with estate walks directly from the house. Our dogs were welcome and secure. But unfortunately the 1.5 mile estate access track requires much attention as it was very rough heavily potholed, more suitable for a vehicle with larger wheels.

Lovely house and views
We loved this house - a lot of time and effort must have been spent on it at one time but it’s now in need of a bit of tlc. The views are spectacular but the road up to the house from the main road leaves a lot to be desired. Towards the end of our week there was a problem with the water supply so we had to use bottled water for drinking. Nevertheless this is a great holiday house
