Waterside Cottage self-catering bungalow sits proudly overlooking stunning sea & mountain views. With direct access to the shore, this is guaranteed to please all ages. Great family house for touring all of what Connemara has to offer along the Wild Atlantic Way including Cashel Hill which stands majestic at the top of the bay.

Offering two double bedrooms, a twin room with shower. family shower room, fitted kitchen/dining area and sitting room with open fire.

Offering 3 bedrooms – 2 doubles & 1 twin room, 1 main bathroom with large wet room, and separate shower & sink unit in the twin bedroom. Sitting room, fitted kitchen with dining area, utility room.

The entrance hallway leading to the sitting room benefits from an open fire, a window overlooking Cashel Bay, comfy couches and a TV.

Fitted kitchen with electric oven & hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer. Dining table seating up to 6, window overlooking the back of the house. Ornate fireplace.

There is a large enclosed garden to the front & side of the house leading down to the shore. There are gates leading into the tarmac drive. Ample parking.

Cashel:

Lying at the head of the beautiful Cashel Bay the townland derives its name from the ring fort or Cashel which surrounds the present-day graveyard.

Cashel Hill stands majestic at the top of the bay. It is worth taking a walk up this hill. From the summit, one can behold some of the most breathtaking views of the surrounding area. There is also a megalithic tomb. Hundreds of lakes lie amid the bogs, the Twelve Bens and Maamturks to the north and the sandy coves and glistening seaweed of the waters of Bertraghboy Bay.

There is golf and pitch and putt, both on magnificent links courses and stunning inland locations. Fishing on rivers lakes and the sea could reward you with salmon, trout, cod, ling and even tuna. Our quiet minor roads are perfect for cycling.


Carna:

Carna is a small coastal area in south Connemara which is in the heart of the Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking) area of Connemara. Carna is located close to the village of Cill Chiarain and they share the peninsula locally called Iorras Aithneach.

There are 4 shops and 3 pubs located in Cana Village. A bus is also based in Carna that brings passengers between Carna and Galway City picking up passengers along the N59.
There are several beautiful white sandy beaches to be found in the Carna area. Mynish, Moyrus, Callowfeenish & Feenish Island are lovely, quiet and secluded beaches where you will find some of the most breathtaking sea views in Connemara

There are plenty of delightful local walks in Connemara where you can discover the local beaches, bog lands, flora and fauna and take some excellent holiday snaps!
Carna is a 40-minute drive from the famous Connemara Golf Links course in Ballyconneely. Barna Golf Course is approx 68 km away from Carna Village (about an hour's drive). Oughterard Golf Course is approximately 52 Km away (a 50-minute drive). There is also a picturesque Pitch and Putt course approximately a 15-minute drive away.

Beautiful peaceful location
Waterside Cottage is in a stunningly beautiful spot. If you need the bright lights, forget it - no wi-fi, phone signals OK sometime but poets, writers, painters and those who appreciate the natural beauty of this corner of Connemara will love it.

Très bien situé mais...
Le cottage est situé en face de la baie de Cashel (Connemara). Belle vue depuis la maison. Elle est au cœur du Connemara, à 20 minutes de la jolie ville de Clifden où tous les commerces sont présents. Nous n'avons vu personne pour récupérer les clés qui nous attendaient dans la serrure. Quant aux aspects pratiques du gîte, nous avons été assez déçus. La douche d'une chambre a été signalée en panne dans un commentaire de 2022 et elle n'est toujours pas réparée. Pour une maison de 6 personnes, une seule salle d'eau est trop juste. L'abattant des WC était HS (réparé rapidement par un plombier). La cuisine est mal équipée : pas de cafetière électrique, une cuisinière toute rouillée hors d'âge, manque d'assiettes, pas de plat à tarte. Les français aiment cuisiner ! Le sèche-linge, indispensable dans ce pays, ne sèche pas vraiment. Autres soucis, une fenêtre de chambre ne jointe pas correctement, une tablette d'une autre est cassée et laisse passer l'air. Quand il fait 13° début juillet, c'est plutôt gênant. On a du allumer le chauffage. A mettre au crédit du gestionnaire, son intervention rapide pour solutionner le plus simple. Ce cottage pourrait être formidable si le propriétaire (américain) investissait quelques dollars. Nous louons depuis 40 ans chaque année, nous n'avons pas l'habitude de pinailler mais là, il y avait de quoi. Un grand merci à Brid, la femme de ménage, pour les scones tous chauds et la confiture en compensation de nos ennuis.

Très bel emplacement
Globalement notre avis est positif, car la vue est exceptionnelle et l emplacement de la maison est interessant pour découvrir la region. Par contre, nous avons noté plusieurs points qui mériteraient d être améliorés pour correspondre exactement à la desciption ainsi qu au prix demandé. La douche qui se situe dans l une des chambres ne fonctionnait pas et nous n en avons pas été informés. La douche de la salle de bain n etait pas propre ( traces de moisissures sur le sol ainsi que sur le carrelage des parois). La vaisselle n est pas suffisante ( 2 poeles seulement dont une est à jeter car inutilisable), la cafetière à poussoir meriterait d être remplacée ( rafistolage du filtre qui laisse passer le café ), seulement 8 assiettes ( pour 6 personnes c est trop juste), la cuisinière est également vraiment très ancienne et abîmée. Enfin un veritable salon de jardin sur le devant de la maison serait également un atout supplémentaire.
