Coming home after what was supposed to be a snowy getaway was a relief. My first and last experience with Vrbo was filled with frustration.
The issues started before our arrival. I filled out multiple forms, confirmed there would be no parties, and ensured the cabin would be ready by the promised 3 PM check-in. The day before, I requested contact details for assistance but received a delayed response minutes before check-in time. The number provided led to a hotline no one answered.
After battling traffic, we arrived to find a cleaning crew that wasn’t aware of the booking. They began cleaning at 2:51 PM. We requested to enter due to the cold, and they allowed us to sit inside while they cleaned, finishing around 4 PM, an hour past the promised check-in time.
I reached out to Vrbo for compensation, requesting a late check-out. Their responses were vague apologies without addressing the issue. Attempts to escalate the matter were unsuccessful—no follow-up calls, no compensation.
The house itself was disappointing. The heating only worked on the first floor, leaving the upstairs freezing. The bathroom door upstairs couldn’t be opened from the inside. Vrbo’s customer service offered apologies but no solutions. The whole experience highlighted poor management and communication.
