Great property - let down by expectations of location & amenities
Overall, this is a lovely property - very clean, comfortable, modern and well equipped. Some helpful feedback which could help improve the experience for future guests... Location. Was not as advertised. Vrbo ad states "This vacation home is located in Callander". Only after booking was made did we learn that the property was in fact some 5/6 miles outside of Callander, with no amenities nearby, except for a pub (next door) - The Byrne - which is advertised as having "great food and drink all day" but actually was closed on one of the four days we were staying, and did not provide food on another of the days. On that second attempt to source food, we were told we couldn't even sit inside the building to have a drink due to a problem with the boiler. We retreated to source food from another drive into Callander - shaving another hour in travel and food wait time from our "relaxing" evening. Tea room was apparently "40 steps away" but in reality it was more than 40 steps simply to get to the main road. Dog Friendly Yes, but if it weighs over 22lbs then expect a 100 GBP extra charge. We had with us two dogs. One, a small cocker spaniel, at his slimmest is still 33lbs. The extra charge seemed excessive for both dogs being over 22lbs! River Access Minor point, but told we could "fish/swim from our garden edge...in Black Water River" but without heavy duty garden implements, this would have been almost impossible.

Beautiful house
Beautiful house with a glorious mountain view! Lovely spot beside the river and the pub. We’ll equipped house, beautifully decorated. We travelled with young kids who loved the garden, grounds and locale. We’d love to stay again if the host will have us :-)
