We drove for 15 hours to our vacation destination, and I cannot tell you how great it was to arrive at a home at the end of those 15 hours instead of a hotel. We had 8 people total, and being able to spread out into three bedrooms and three bathrooms was extremely luxurious. We also brought a lot of food (mostly snacks and breakfasts), and made use of the toaster, coffee maker, Keurig, and refrigerator. All the dishes and cleaning supplies we needed were available, as were extra trash bags, towels, pillows. It was like staying in the house of a really generous family friend.
I know we had neighbors because we saw their beach towels and things on the deck, but we never heard them. The coming and going traffic of the parking lot was not bothersome. It was a very easy drive to Silver Dollar City, and getting food delivery in the evenings was no problem. The security guard even gave us some suggestions and menus. The welcome center people were also friendly, as was our VRBO host, answering every question I had in a timely manner.
This is the first time I've used VRBO, though another member of our party has used one in the past. After this experience this is the only way I plan to travel with a large party. It was so nice to be able to split into different rooms to get some occasional peace and quiet, and also nice to be able to have 3 showers going at a time after a long day out and about. Our property had 2 sets of bunk beds, which our kids found really fun.
